The 12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge Day 2 : Christmas Trees
It's the Second day of the Christmas Nail Art Challenge and today's theme is Christmas trees. I had a heck of a time trying to come up with an idea for today's theme. I wanted to go for something different again and attempted a few different ideas. But fancy nail art was just not in the cards for me today. After 4 failed manicures I finally settled on a French twist with stamping.
I'm actually pretty proud of how this turned out considering how frustrated I was when I started it. And for some reason, I can freehand a French tip in my sleep, but I can't paint lines to make a tree to save my life. Funny how that works.
Enough of my nail art skill ponderings, back to the manicure. I started off with a layer of Simply Smooth. I wanted even color for the "nude" part of the nail along with a smooth surface to work with. The French tips are Ho Ho Holly from Color Club and a sparkly red striping polish I picked up at Sally's. I stamped with Finger Paints Paper Mache and Konad plate M12. Add in some gold accents with Orly Luxe and viola my manicure is completed!
I wish the Merry Christmas was a little easier to read, but I still think it looks cute. Festive but not over the top I guess. The next prompt is snowmen and I hope I don't have as many issues coming up with a manicure for that one. While I'm off thinking up ideas why don't you check out the other manicures in the challenge. Or check out what I did for last years Christmas Tree prompt. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!
I love that you did this over a colored french tip! Your tree is precious!
ReplyDeleteI love this colored french tip! I can't do french tips to save *my* life! haha!
ReplyDeleteSimple, but refined, I really love this!
ReplyDeleteLovely! Your so lucky to be able to do french tips, I couldn't if my life depended on it lol!
ReplyDeleteRed and green combined always give the perfect Christmas vibe!

ReplyDeleteThank you =)
ReplyDeleteThanks and yeah its a skill that comes in handy!
ReplyDeleteI agree. I was hoping to try and think outside the box for this challenge and use non traditional colors, but after my failed attempts I changed my thinking. And Im glad I did, I like the way this turned out.
ReplyDeleteThanks =)
ReplyDeleteThank you =)
ReplyDeleteThank you Lisa =)
ReplyDeleteDoing the nail art really helps get me into the Christmas spirit. After working retail for so long and setting Christmas displays in September I'd lost some of it.
ReplyDeleteI like this nail art and the colours you picked totally scream Christmas to me!
ReplyDeleteI really like your xmas tree!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I had forgotten I had that stamp in my collection and when I saw it I knew I had to use it. My Konad plates don't get much love now that I've discovered MoYou and others.
ReplyDeleteThese are perfect. Just as you said, simple but cute.
ReplyDeleteI love that green Color Club polish! So pretty and festive :)
ReplyDeleteThank you. I wanted to try something a little more out of the box for me but it just wasn't happening. I'm happy with my finished result though.
ReplyDeleteIt actually looked a little blue with the first coat and I was a tad worried. But the green really popped after 2.
ReplyDeleteThanks =)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely cute! I LOVE that green CC polish!
ReplyDeleteThese are adorable! I love your Funky French!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I picked it up at Sally's last year after Christmas, I think it is was a little gift set with another polish but I cant really remember right now.
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you =)
ReplyDeleteI love the subtle stamping there! I would never show that much nude area, my nails are too stained for that! Jealous your nail beds look so clean, lol!
ReplyDeleteI really love funky french manis! This is perfect for the season :)
ReplyDeleteThank you. I might wear just the French part on Christmas. I haven't decided yet though.
ReplyDeleteAwe thanks. I think the tips are my favorite part of this manicure.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason that has always come easy for me. Now painting a straight line on the other hand is a completely different story. I don't know if I think the French tip will be harder so I automatically slow down without realizing it or if I'm just lucky.
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing!! So unique, I just love it!!
ReplyDeleteThanks. My natural nails don't actually look that good. That's why I used the Simply smooth base coat. It sort of evens everything out, the color and the surface.
