     It's getting closer to Christmas and I 'm sure there are a few people out there who are planning their manicures. Red nail polish is pretty much a staple in any traditional Christmas manicure but there are so many to choose from. And what if you want to stamp your design in red polish, how do you know which one will work? Today's post will hopefully help you out with those questions. Like my previous stamping comparison posts, I have 4 polishes that I put to the stamping test. MdU Red, China Glaze Seeing Red, Sinful Colors Bitten and Sally Hansen Wild Strawberry. Which one works the best? Let's find out! 

     Just like my gold stamping comparison I wanted to show the stamping over both black and white.
For my base, I used Sinful Colors Whiteboard and Blackboard from the Back to School School Goals collection and stamped a New Years image from Sugar Bubbles plate SBS 04.  As you can see red is a very hard polish to stamp over black with. Even the stamping polish from MdU barely shows up.


     All 4 of the polishes I chose do work but not equally well. China Glaze Seeing Red (From the Giver Collection) actually smeared a bit and looks pink when stamped over white. Sinful Colors Bitten looks pretty good over white but basically disappears against the black. I like the way Sally Hansen Wild Strawberry looks over white and it would work over the black in a pinch.


     I'd have to say that out of the 4 polishes I've compared the Mdu Stamping polish works the best. It has the truest red color over black and is the most pigmented over white. My 2nd favorite is the Sally Hansen Wild Strawberry.  China Glaze Seeing Red is my least favorite for stamping.

     Happy Monday everyone, wow where did the weekend go? I don't know about you but I was so busy it feels like I blinked and my weekend was gone. On a positive note, I was able to get my 2 new helmers built and my collection organized. My collection was starting to get out of control and I had bottles in little totes and covering my desk. Now everything is in its place and I feel like I can start focusing more on nail art instead of just swatching.  Afterall nail art is the reason I started this blog in the first place. Which brings me to today's post. I realized it's been over a month since I've shared any nail art with you, May 10th be exact when I shared my pink roses look.  This time I'm sharing some decals I created using Z Plate Image plates from Mundo De Unos.


     This look went a little bit outside of my comfort zone with the color pallet and I found that I really like it. Maybe I've been playing it a little too safe all these years and need to venture outside the box more often.... hmmm that's something to think about.

     To create the decals I used the reverse stamping technique and pulled out my Simply Neat Miracle Mat and image plate Abstractos 4 using Hit the Bottle polish Absinthe. A shimmery green polish that reminds me of summer.

     It's Wednesday! That means it's half way through the week for most of you, and for me, it means only 3 more days of work until my 2-week vacation! Not that I have a countdown going or anything. The one good thing about working for a school is that I get summers off and a spring break vacation, the bad thing is that I work for a different school than my kids attend. Hence the 2 weeks off, their spring break is the week after mine. Originally I was planning on taking the 2 weeks to move into my new house, but our closing has been pushed back with no new date set so I'm in limbo on the new home front. That means I'll have more time to paint my nails and work on my blog. I'll be able to bring you more looks like the one I'm sharing with you today. An abstract stamped look featuring 2 polishes from Fair Maiden and a Z plate I ordered from MDU.

     To create this look I used Fair Maiden Ice Petals with Fire Frost as an accent. Both polishes are part of the Holiday 2015 Collection, Winter at Dusk.  In a previous post, I shared with you Snow Jewels from the same collection.  As you can see Fire Frost is a bit sheer and there is still some visible nail line after 2 coats. It wasn't as obvious as you see here. The direct lighting brought more attention to it, but it was noticeable at certain angles.

    The image is from a new to me brand of stamping plates called Z Plates. I picked a few up in a group buy from MDU at the end of last year.  This one is from plate Abstractos 3. While I am normally drawn to the more frilly images like lace, flowers and, butterflies lately I've really been into the angular art deco type. Think roaring 20's, The Great Gatsby and such. There's just something satisfying about the sharp angles intermixed with sleek curves.

     From the same group buy I also picked up a couple mini stamping polishes to try. The one I used here is called Old Pink. Which made me a little confused since it is clearly purple. But whatever the name it stamped beautifully and worked well with Ice Petals and Fire Frost to bring the whole mani together. Especially since Fire Frost has a subtle purple shimmer to it.
