OPI- 4 In the Morning

Today I have a quick post about OPI 4 In the Morning to share with you as I scramble to get things ready for our last minute vacation this weekend. You know how people say procrastination is their middle name, well I have them beat it should be my first name! I am the queen of procrastination. I had been planning this idea for a mini vacation while the kids had a break from school for a few weeks, didn't make the hotel reservations until Monday afternoon. But enough about my bad habit lets get on to the polish.

Black matte nail polish

4 In the Morning was released in January of this year as part of the Gwen Stefani collection. It dries to a satin finish with micro gold flecks. There is a bit of texture but not enough to be rough. Sadly the golden flecks are hardly visible when dry. A layer of top coat helps to make them pop a little more.

Black Satin nail polish

Even though this is a highly pigmented polish I had visible streaks on the first coat but reached full opacity after 2. An added bonus is that this dries really quickly. I was using it for undies for the Maybelline Veils collection and didn't have to wait for any dry time between layers.

Because of its satin finish, 4 In The Morning is extremely unforgivable with imperfections in nails. As you can see by the dent in my pinky finger. No that's not a dent in the polish, it's a dent in my nail. I guess that's what I get for wearing acrylics for 2 weeks. 3 months later and the dent has almost grown out!

Overall I like this polish. It covers nicely, dries quickly and makes a great base for whatever you want to layer over it. My only complaint is that the gold flecks are really hard to see. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing! I'm off to do more packing.

  1. I picked this up about a week ago at Ulta. It was on clearance for one dollar. I put it on as soon as i got home. I love how it looks with a topcoat.

    1. I also picked mine up on clearance but from Sally's. I wish I would have gotten pictures with top coat to share, but I was working fast and forgot.

    1. Thanks and that comment made me laugh! There are some days that I am really bad about putting things off, and it's sometimes stuff I want to do.

  3. My nails are terrible so I probably couldn't wear this one! I like it on you, though!

    1. If I was going to wear this without a glitter topper If use a good ridge filling base coat. I'm surprised that more of my nail imperfections aren't visible.

  5. I just bought this polish a few weeks ago and I love it! It's such a great alternative to wearing a normal black polish!

    1. I agree. I actually heard a lot about this one but hadn't seen a swatch when I picked it up. Not sure I would have if it had been full price, and I would really be missing out.

    1. How do you feel about the invisible glitter flecks? I really need to get a photo of this with top coat.

    1. You are in luck. While on vacation I decided that I really needed to add a photo of this with top coat to the post so that will be happening in the next day or two.

    1. Thank you. I think this is one that's great to have in your collection specifically for nail art. It makes a great base and dries so quickly!

  9. It is a really kick-ass polish, and the almost-no-dry-time properties are very seducing ;) Too bad that the gold flecks are not that pronounced, though. But I'd still like to have it, it's one of a kind!

  10. I think I might look into this to use as undies since it dries so quickly!

  11. I like the idea of using this for undies, but not too impressed with how it looks. I want to see some of that gold sparkle!

    1. I really wanted to see it too. I like the finish on this but it looks a but odd completely on its own.

  12. I really like this one, and all others satin finish polishes OPI released. They need to make more of them!

  13. This is a great shade, but you are right, it's unforgiving with imperfections. Still looks lovely on you!

  14. This is one of my favorite polishes!! I use it a lot as a base for art. I do have to agree with you though on those gold flecks :-(

    1. I really wish you could see them better without adding a glossy top coat. Kind of defeats the purpose of the satin finish.

  15. I find mattes and satins to be great underwears! They dry fast and are usually very opaque. Neverming they show each and every small imperfection, they're gonna be covered anyway!

Í'd love to try this polish myself oneday!

    1. I do believe they have still been spotted in some stores. I think Ulta would be the bet bet. But with the new line of Gewn Stefani polishes coming out they might not be around for long.
