Swatch and Review of Serum No. 5 Some Bunny Wants Your Blood for Polish Pickup May 2019

I'm squeeking today's post in just in time for you to update those wishlists for Polish Pickup. And boy do I have a polish for you today. Some Bunny Wants Your Blood from Serum No 5 has so much going on it's sure to have something that everyone will love.

Inspired by Bunnicula, Some Bunny Wants Your Blood is a smoky black thermal with a jelly finish loaded with red, pink, copper and gold glitter. And if that wasn't enough it also has flakies that glow in the dark.  Yes, you read that right a glow in the dark thermal with a jelly base.

This might be my most picture heavy post featuring only one polish in the history of my blog! When cold SBWYB shows the black base packed with glitter, when warm it shifts to a light sandy brown, and it glows a bright green color.

The formula is easy to work with. Like all jelly polishes, I had just a hint of color on the first coat. The glitters are abundant and lay nice and flat on the nail.

The second coat built the opacity up nicely and you could probably get away with only doing two coats. Since I didn't know what color the polish would be shifting to at the time of swatching I decided to add a third coat for good measure and ensure full coverage during the transition. The polish is shown as three thin coats plus glossy topcoat in all my photos.

Because this polish is so full of glitter it does dry with a bit of a rough texture. A generous layer of good topcoat or two layers of a thinner one will leave you with a smooth finish.

And now for the glowing goodness! I charged my nails and the bottle under the lights from my lightbox for about 5 minutes and the results were seriously bright. In fact, my nails were still glowing over an hour later when I finally crawled into bed. It kinda freaked the Mr. out when he saw them and I got a good laugh out of it.

Some Bunny Wants You Blood goes on sale in the Polish Pickup on Friday, May 3rd at 11 am Eastern time and runs through Monday, May 6th. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!

Parallax Polish - The Secrets of the 7 Seas Collection

Available this week is the gorgeous Secrets of the 7 Seas Collection from Parallax Polish. A stunning collection depicting the different wonders you can find in water, and highlights different facts about the ocean. There's a lot to get through and a ton of photos so I'll keep my words short and sweet.  Let's dive right in shall we...

   * All polishes are shown with 2 coats plus top coat unless noted. And photographed in my light box using daylight bulbs. For the holographic polishes I did take a few photos directly under the light.*

3.5° is described as a Gold- blue linear holographic polish. Fun Fact: The average ocean temperature is 3.5 degrees.  To me it looked a bit more like an icy blue linear holographic that wanted to photograph more silver than blue. But I did get a few flashes of gold from time to time.

3.5-degrees-parallax-polish-7-seas-collection-icy-blue-holographic-nail-polish

Application was smooth and even and I was pleasantly surprised at how opaque the first coat was. The holographic flame was so strong with this one that my camera couldn't capture a decent macro shot. So I have a blurry one to show you. But its got a nice rainbow in it.

Bio Mimicry  is described as a dark teal-purple duo chrome. Fun Fact: Bio mimicry is a form of protection the many ocean creatures use to blend in with their backgrounds. I have to say that the description is dead on for this one.

Bio-Mimicry-7-seas-collection-Parallax-Polish-teal-to-purple-duo-chrome-nail-polish

Shown here with 3 thin coats plus top coat. Application was typical with the first coat going on slightly streaky but evening out after 2 and reaching full opacity after 3. I love the depth that this polish has.

Sea Foam is a shimmery teal polish that doesn't leave brushstrokes. Yes you read that right, 0 brushstrokes! Fun Fact: Algae breaks down in the ocean, which then gets thrown against the shore in waves on the beach. This agitation creates sea foam, the bubbles you see at the beach.

Application was once again smooth, but a little sheer on the first coat. Builds up nicely but has a slight VNL after 2. Not as noticeable to the naked eye as it is to my camera.

Challenger Deep is a matte black polish that glows purple in the dark. Sadly I dropped the ball and didn't get to photograph this one in it's glowing state. A fact that I will remedy as soon as I get the chance. I had it in the back of my mind to take those photos but it was a distracting day at my house and blew it. Fun Fact : Challenger Deep is the deepest part of the ocean, in Mariana's Trench. The matte black matches the color of the ocean, with a glow in the dark to represent bio-luminescence of living creatures.

Application was again streaky on the first coat. Typical of most matte polishes in my opinion, and evens out after the 2nd coat.  As you can see there is also a bit of a bumpy texture that adds character to and separates this from your usual black matte polish. I should also note that the texture is a bit magnified by my camera.  Because of the matte finish I have chosen to show this without top coat.

Coral Reef is a solar changing polish that goes from clear to purple and contains purple micro glitter. Again I was unable to get any color changing shots but that is because the sun has been hiding for the last 2 weeks. Yes I'm starting to get cabin fever and yes I will get sun shots as soon as the weather wants to cooperate. Fun Fact: This polish is inspired by coral bleaching- where coral loses it's color because of too warm or cold- which is represented by the solar changing of this polish.

Application is smooth with tons of glitter in each coat. Because of the clear base 3 thin coats were needed to reach a an opacity that I was happy with.

Gulf Stream is a blue-green linear holographic polish. The holo isn't quite as strong compared to 3.5°  but is still a gorgeous polish. Fun Fact: The Gulf Stream is a current that runs from Florida up the Atlantic that helps control temperature and is being explored for renewable power energy.

Gulf-Stream-Holographic-blue-nail-polish-7-seas-collection-parallax-polish

This polish was also surprisingly opaque after 1 coat with smooth even application. And isnt that just a gorgeous shade of blue!

Arctic Ice is a blueish silver holographic polish. For me this one leaned more to the silver side and had the weakest holographic flash of the 3 holos in this collection. I also got hints or purple as I moved my hand around in the light. Fun Fact: This polish represents the ice sheets that help cool the ocean, and gives polar animals places to live.

While sheer on the first coat this beauty builds up nicely with its smooth, even application. It sort of reminds me of champagne, with its subtle hints of color and delicate feel.

Whew! There you have it. 7 polishes representing 7 secrets from our oceans. Thanks for sticking with me this far. I know that was a lot to take in. This collection is available now in 3 sizes  from Parallax polish. The full collection will cost anywhere from $23-$70 depending on which size you choose. Let's Go Camping Nail Art Challenge Day 1: Under the Stars

It's once again time for another nail art challenge brought to you by the Facebook group Challenge Your Nail Art. This time around the theme is "Let's go Camping!" and today's prompt is "Under the Stars".

For this manicure, I had the vision of a wonderful night sky scene by the lake with the stars twinkling and some waves crashing against the shore. But then I got real and remembered that my nail art skills are severely lacking. I did manage to create at least part of that image on my nails!

blue-and-black-gradient-manicure

I decided to recreate the night sky from a camping trip I took back when I was about 11. My family sat up almost until dawn watching the Northern Lights dance across the sky. And because we were so far away from any city lights the colors were amazing!

To get this look, I started out with one coat of Sally Hansen White On so that my gradient colors would really pop. I used Sally Hansen Black Out, L'Oreal After Hours and Maybelline Blue Bombshell for my gradient.  I really wanted to capture the way it looks when the first rays of light start to change the sky from Black to blue.

After letting my gradient dry I used a glow in the dark polish from Sinful Colors to make my Northern Lights. By removing almost all of the polish from the brush I was able to create the sort of wispy effect I remembered from my childhood.

The stars are my absolute least favorite part of this manicure and the reason I don't "love" the finished look. I used my smallest dotting tool and went in with Sally Hansen White On to add them. I think they just look too much like dots instead of stars and that's my issue. Someone will have to give me tips on how to make them look more star-like.

My favorite part of this manicure is that the Northern lights actually glow! I wanted to get a picture of that for you but realized that it just looks like glowing blobs. I did manage to get a picture where you can see some of the glowing effect and the rest of the manicure at the same time.

I think it looks really cool this way, and really captures the look I was going for. So what do you think on my "Under the Stars" manicure? Make sure you stop back tomorrow to see what I came up with for "Nature". In the meantime let's check out what the other talented ladies came up with for today. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!

Liquid Kandi Nail Lacquer- The Summer Glow Collection (partial)

Hello Everyone! Today I'm bringing to you part of a new collection from Liquid Kandi Nail Lacquer, The Summer Glow Collection. This collection contains 4 polishes: Glow Me a River, You Glow Me Crazy, Cant-elope Glow, and Sunkissed Glow.  I'll be showing you the last 2 today.

Let me start by saying that both polishes had the exact same formula. Which was pretty spectacular if you ask me. The polish flowed smoothly off the brush. With my first couple brush strokes, I thought I was going to end up with streaks, but both polishes leveled themselves out for an even finish.

Cant-elope Glow is a mint green shimmering polish, that glows a pretty aqua green shade. Although it dries to a matte finish, you won't lose any of the shimmers.

Glow-in-the-dark-nail-polish

Cant-elope Glow appears sheer at first, but builds up nicely, reaching full opacity with 3 slightly thick coats. And boy does this polish glow! I stood with my hand under a lamp for about 2 minutes before taking this next shot.

Dry time was as equally impressive as the application. You know the golden rule of nail polish right? Always go to the bathroom before you start. Sure enough 3 minutes after finishing my nails.... Yep, you guessed it. But I bet you didn't guess, not a single smidge, or dent. And that was without top coat!

But how does it look under a stamped image you asked? Ok, so maybe you didn't ask, but I wanted to play around a little with these. Please be kind when viewing this image, my stamping skills decided to take a break while I did this. (3 times!)

Sunkissed Glow is a light yellow shimmery polish with a kiss of orange that glows greenish-yellow.

Application and dry time are again impressive. Shown here is 3 slightly thicker coats without top coat. Guess what else is the same as Cant-elope... the glow power!

By this time my stamping skills decided break time was over, but my design choosing skills fell a little short. In my defense, it looks super cute in normal lighting. The lines are just a little too thin to really show up when it's glowing. See what I mean...

Stamped with Sally Hansen Insta-dry Lightening and plate BM-315
I've got a picture on my Facebook page of this in daylight if you want to check it out. Otherwise, you can just take my word on how awesome it looks. And by awesome, I mean the image is straight and it covers the entire nail. Yay, a stamping success!

Now time for the important stuff. The Summer Glow Collection is available for pre-order right now on Store Envy, but they go live on Friday, Aug. 1st. Mark your calendars. Each Bottle retails for $9 or you can pick up the entire collection for $34.

What about the other two colors in the collection? Sadly I don't have pictures to show you but I can describe them! Glow Me a River is a baby blue shimmer that glows a darker blue. You Glow Me Crazy is a bubble gum pink shimmer that glows pinkish orange.

But wait there's more! Liquid Kandi Nail Lacquer also offers subscription boxes, or bags if that's your thing. The box contains 2 full sized polishes, 1 mini, 2-3 nail art tools or designs, 1 feature beauty product of the month AND a sweet treat. You get all that for $30. The bag contains 1 full sized polishes, 1 mini, 1 nail art tool or design, AND a sweet treat. And the price, only $20. Those prices also include shipping and handling.

For more information on these polishes and more, check out Liquid Kandi on Facebook or follow them on IG.

Whew! That was A LOT of information. If you've stuck with me this far I thank you. I've just got one more favor to ask, let me know your thoughts on these polishes in the comments. Reader feedback is very important to me. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!
