Swatch and Review of Literary Lacquers A Court of Feels and Sparkle Collection

Today I have a very special treat for all of you! Literary Lacquers is back! *insert round of applause* Not only is she back with a stunning new collection she is also having a sale on all of the older collections. Let's get some of the details out of the way before we get to the polish, shall we?
Literary Lacquers is back with a collection of 7 new polishes (Plus a special limited edition gift with purchase polish) inspired by the Sarah J. Maas series A Court of Thorns and Roses. This collection will take you on a journey through the 7 courts of the High Fae of Prythian. The full collection will be available at a slight discount for $70. The Launch Date is 4/22/19, noon Mountain time. And I can't forget about the Sale: 4/22/19 – 5/1/19, 25% off all older collections, Plus you can receive Starfall, a Limited Edition polish as a free gift with $50 pre-shipping purchase

Veiled in Roses – Rosy pink packed with holographic and opalescent microglitter - $10
Inspired by the Spring Court’s beautiful manor house, an alabaster estate covered in roses and ivy, surrounded by meadows and forests in perpetual springtime.

The formula on this is simply wonderful with a smooth application and even coverage. You get a ton of sparkle in each layer. There was a slight VNL after the first coat but as you can see it builds up nicely. Full opacity was achieved with the application of a second coat. Shown here as two coats plus glossy topcoat.

Adriata – Aqua opal, this polish is loaded with blue, green, and white opalescent flakies and microglitter $10.
The Summer Court is home to the beautiful city of Adriata nestled in its half moon bay.

The formula on this one gave me just a little trouble. The first few strokes were a tad splotchy. Almost like the flakes were all clumped together and needed to be separated on the nail. Which is exactly what happened after a few strokes of the brush. Once again I had a slight VNL after the first coat with full opacity after the second coat. Shown here as two coats plus glossy topcoat.

Autumn Fire – Deep coppery red holo with microglitter - $12
Fire is the power of the High Fae that reside in the Autumn Court.

The formula of Autumn Fire is very easy to work with giving you even coverage with each layer. The first coat left a small amount of VNL with full opacity being reached with the addition of a second coat. Shown here as two coats plus glossy topcoat.

High Lady of Winter – Soft grey holo with white, silver, and blue flakies - $12
This polish inspired by the frozen Winter Court is a little shout out to the fandom and my girl Vivianne, may her voice be heard

This polish has a formula that has a smooth consistency and even coverage. While it was more opaque on the first coat than I was expecting, I still had a slight VNL. The addition of a second coat will give you full opacity. Shown here as two coats plus glossy topcoat.

Sunstone Palace – Delicate metallic that shifts from copper to rose - $10
The books’ action only visits the Dawn court for a short period of time, but the description of the breathtaking palace inspired this lacquer

The application is smooth and even with a nice dispersion of flakes on the nail. Again this was slightly more opaque than I was expecting but you're still left with a small amount of VNL after the first coat. Full opacity can be reached after two coats. Shown here as two coats plus glossy topcoat.

Cursebreaker – Bright white gold metallic with a subtle green iridescence - $10
The mysterious Day Court is home to Helion Spell-Cleaver, his power of Cursebreaking is vital to something I can’t tell you about because it’s a spoiler.

The formula on this was surprising. I was honestly expecting it to be more of a topper than a regular nail polish. With its smooth consistency and even coverage, this polish is easy to work with and leaves only a slight VNL on the first coat. Curse Breaker builds up quite nicely to achieve full opacity after to easy coats. Shown here as two coats plus glossy topcoat.

Court of Dreams – Black base with holo microflakes, silver flakes, and shimmer that shifts from blue through indigo to violet - $12
The Night Court is home to the mysterious and dark Rhysand and his hot muscular Illyrian warriors (ahem). No spoilers but fans self anyway.

With a smooth consistency and even coverage, this polish is a winner in my book. I did have a slight VNL after the first coat but, it builds up nicely to reach full opacity after two effortless coats. Shown here as two coats plus glossy topcoat.

Starfall - Deep navy holo with microglitter and opalescent green flakes
Amy really wanted to call this polish My Other Ride is an Illyrian Warrior but decided to go with the more sedate Starfall. Starfall is a holiday celebrated in the Winter Court on a night where star spirits migrate across the sky.

*If you want a My Other Ride is an Illyrian Warrior name label, let her know in your order notes and She’ll hook you up!*

Just like the rest of this collection, the formula on this is a breeze to work with. It has a smooth formula and an even consistency. While the flakes aren't in abundance they scatter themselves quite nicely on the nail. I did have a slight VNL after the first coat and full opacity after two. Shown here as two coats plus glossy topcoat.

I know that was a lot to get through so let's revisit the details on this collection and the upcoming sale. The full collection will be available at a slight discount for $70. The Launch Date is 4/22/19, noon Mountain time. And I can't forget about the Sale: 4/22/19 – 5/1/19, 25% off all older collections, Plus you can receive Starfall, a Limited Edition polish as a free gift with $50 pre-shipping purchase. If you'd like to see some of the older collections be sure to check out my previous posts on the As You Wish Trio, Alice in Lacquerland Collection, The Faulkner Duo, or the Ocean at the End of the Lane Trio just to name a few.

Literary Lacquers - As You Wish Trio

Just a few weeks after releasing her Alice in Lacquerland collection Literary Lacquers is at it again with a trio just in time for Valentines Day. This Collection was named by a member of the Fan group and it's like they were reading my mind. I am a HUGE Princess Bride fan. So much so that my I'm having my friend who is officiating my wedding this fall open with this famous line...

Speaking of Mawage, that's the name of the LE topper from this trio. It will be available for the entire month of February.

Mawage

Limited edition topper from the As You Wish trio Valentines Collection 2018. Clear base with heart glitter mixed in with holographic hex glitter

Color: A clear based polish filled with holographic hex glitter and heart-shaped glitters. Shown here over Sinful Colors Whiteboard.

Application: When trying to apply this like a typical polish I did need to do a bit of fishing for the heart glitters. The holographic and pink hex glitters came out easily and were abundant on the nail. Rather than play around too much and have thick layers of this on my nail I decided to sponge it on. As you can see I was able to get a good amount of coverage this way without being over the top. I did need to fish a little for the hearts but it was minimal. Shown as 1 sponged coat plus top coat.

Typically I'm not a fan of the shaped glitter in polish. You will notice that I have maybe one other polish on my blog with them in it. That being said I actually like this one. The shapes are not overpowering and blend well with the hex glitters for a fun look. I don't see myself wearing this a lot but it is a great polish for Valentines.

Princess Buttercup

White matte nail polish with pink glitter and shimmer from the As You Wish Trio Valentines Collection 2018

Color: White matte polish with pink glitter and shimmer.

Application: Smooth formula with even application. This polish is a bit on the sheer side and I had quite the VNL after 2 coats. Opacity builds up nicely and I was able to get full coverage after 3 coats.  Shown as 3 coats plus a matte top coat.

Now, this is a polish I can see myself wearing a lot, especially in the spring when all flowers are blooming. I think it also makes a great base for nail art although I didn't add any this time around. I did add a glossy top coat however so you can see what it looks like with a little shine.

The Man in Black

Black matte nail polish with pink glitter and shimmer from the As You Wish Trio Valentines collection 2018

Color: Black matte nail polish with pink glitter and shimmer.

Application: Smooth application but goes on a bit sheer with the first coat seeming to have a sparse amount of glitter. Builds up beautifully to reach full opacity with 2 coats and a nice amount of glitter. Shown as 2 coats plus a matte top coat.

This is another beauty that I can see myself wearing. While I like Princess Buttercup better matte I actually like this one better with a glossy top coat. Check it out below.

Literary Lacquers - Alice in Lacquerland Collection

Today I have the Alice in Lacquerland Collection from Literary Lacquers and I am so excited to share it with you! This long-awaited collection is filled with fun and sparkle just like the story that inspired it. Get ready to set your alarms because this collection releases today Dec 26th at noon mt and I'm sure it's one you won't want to miss.

This will be a long post with a ton of pictures! I have 6 collection polishes and 1 gift with purchase to share so let's get some particulars out of the way right now. Each polish is shown as 2 coats plus topcoat and I photographed them all in my lightbox using daylight LED bulbs. Let's jump right in shall we.

Tulgey Wood

Rich-caramel-brown-linear-holographic-nail-polish

Color: A rich caramel brown linear holographic nail polish with copper and gold glass flecks.

Application: Tulgey Wood has a smooth formula with even coverage. I was surprised at how opaque this is. I only had a slight VNL after 1 coat. This polish builds up nicely to a perfect opacity after 2 coats.

Six Impossible Things

Burnt-orange-scattered-holographic-nail-polish

Color: A scattered holographic glitter nail polish in a burnt orange base with gold and copper micro glitters. This color reminds me of the bittersweet plant that used to grow in my yard as a child.

Application: The formula for this one is a bit thin on the first coat and can be patchy if applied thinly. Six Impossible Things builds up nicely after 2 coats but still shows a slight VNL that's more evident in my photos than when looking with the naked eye.

Grin Without a Cat

Purple-multi-chrome-nail-polish

Color: Purple multi-chrome polish that shifts from purple to gold to pink with magenta shimmer and microglitter. This one doesn't have an obvious color shift to it which makes it unique for multi-chrome polishes. At first glance, I actually thought it was a shimmer finish because I was only getting a light to dark purple shift until I moved my hand around. Then I was able to get the hints of gold to appear.

Application: This polish went on a bit uneven for me on the first coat and wanted to pull away at my tips. I'm not entirely sure if this was because of the polish itself or the new sticky base coat that I'm trying out. As you can see I was left with a smooth even finish after 2 coats but there is still some shrinkage at the tips.

The Golden Afternoon

Yellow-Gold-Scattered-holographic-nail-polish

Color: Yellow gold scattered holographic nail polish with a hint of linear holo thrown in.

Application: Smooth and even application with the first coat being quite sheer. The Golden Afternoon does build up quite nicely to full opacity with two coats.

Curiouser and Curiouser!

Sky-Blue-Scattered-holographic-nail-polish

Color: Sky blue scattered holographic nail polish.

Application: Smooth formula and very opaque. I had 99% full coverage after one medium think coat. Builds up quite nicely to complete opacity after two coats.

Always Tea Time

Medium-pink-linear-holographic-nail-polish-with-scattered-holographic-glass-flecks

Color: Medium pink linear holographic nail polish with scattered holographic glass flecks.

Application: Smooth and even application and a very opaque polish. I would almost consider this a one coater. Builds up to a perfect opacity after two coats.

Be What You Would Seem to Be

Pale-purple-scattered-holographic-nail-polish

Color: Pale purple polish with scattered holographic glitter with a hint of linear holo.

Application: Even application but a bit sheer on the first coat. Builds up nice and smoothly for full opacity after two coats.
