The 12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge Day 4: Santa/Elves
I'm breaking my regular posting schedule to bring you my manicure for the 4th day of the Christmas Nail Art Challenge. Today's theme is Santa and or his Elves.
After discovering that many of my striping polishes have dried up beyond repair I decided to throw my original idea out the window and focus on Santa. I also decided that I need to go shopping for new striping polishes. ;)
I used Zoya Rekha as my base color for 4 of my nails. On my ring finger, I used a variety of striping polishes and regular polishes to make my Santa. The entire face was done with dotting tools, except for the hat. That I was able to actually use a striping polish for and paint it on. I even tried to give him rosy cheeks with a sheet tint pink polish. As you can see I didn't wait long enough before adding my top coat and the red streaked a little bit. Well ok, I'll be honest, it streaked a lot!
The streaking really made me sad because up until then my Santa looked pretty cute and jolly. So lesson learned, wait more than 20 minutes to apply top coat when working with red and white polish. Although I still think he looks kind of cute.
Now let's see what the others have come up with for today. As always thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!
What a cute Santa accent nail that is!
ReplyDeleteSo cuteee!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I own any Red Zoya creams, I need to change that. And Aww poor smeared Santa. What topcoat did you use?
ReplyDeleteThank Lisa. I really wish the red hadn't streaked all over his face though.
ReplyDeleteThanks =)
ReplyDeleteI actually thought I had more red crème polishes in my collection but my choices were limited. I used Mentality Fast-dry top coat. I've never had an issue with the streaking like this when using it. I think it was the striper that I used, more than the top coat.
ReplyDeleteI kind of want to pinch his rosy red cheeks!
ReplyDeleteI think he looks adorable! The topcoat streaking just... Uhm... we'll say he got into the eggnog!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great red, so pretty on you!
ReplyDeletelol that comment actually did make me laugh out loud!
ReplyDeleteI like that excuse! I think we should stick to it.
ReplyDeleteTank you. I don't wear red nails often, but when I do I really like them.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I was proud of my Santa before he steaked.
ReplyDeleteYour Santa is too cute!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! I think your Santa still is adorable!!
ReplyDeleteThank you =)
ReplyDeleteThank you. I like his rosy cheeks the best.
ReplyDeleteyour santa is so cute!
ReplyDeleteToo bad the red streaked, but I still think it looks lovely :).
ReplyDeleteYour Santa is so friggin cute!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I think next time I might paint the red, wait a bit, to coat and then move on to the white. See if that works out for me a little better.
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you.
ReplyDeleteAw these are so cute, they look fab xx
ReplyDeleteHis smile is adorable.
ReplyDeleteYes, red pigment does not play nice! Boy have I had a mani fail because of that! I still think your mani is cute though!
ReplyDeleteThank you =)
ReplyDeleteThanks. I thought about making him smirk but decided a smiling Santa was better,
ReplyDeleteThank you. I'm glad the smearing didn't ruin it completely, but I still wish it hadn't happened.
ReplyDeleteYeah that might help! Also some topcoats are known for not streaking. For example G&G HK Girl, it always works perfect for me with stamping!
ReplyDeleteYour mani is super cute and perfect for a negative space mani!
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great, even with the streaking! He's just more jolly than expected! ;)
ReplyDeleteHow cheerful!
ReplyDeleteThat sucks, especially because most stamping relies on a crisp image. I can really recommend the G&G HK Girl one then!
ReplyDeleteLOVE these! So stinkin cute!
ReplyDeleteThat's one top coat that I surprisingly don't own. I might have to look into getting some. All of my current top coats smear my stamping at least a little. No matter how long I seem to wait.
ReplyDeletethat made me laugh. thank you!
ReplyDeletethanks =)
ReplyDeleteI told my boyfriend this weekend that that's what he could get me for Christmas. I really hope he listens! =)
