     Last week I shared Frost Bite with you from Cuttin' Edge Polish. I thought I'd kick this week off with another polish from the Frozen trio, Let it Go. As I mentioned before this trio was released last year and is no longer available.  Sadly I never got around to using these polishes last year, and that's why I'm sharing them with you now.  And part of my year long no buy is to get through all or umm, most of my untried polishes. I have a LOT of untrieds so it might take me longer than a year to get through them. 

     Let it Go is a medium blue linear holo with just the right amount of iciness to it. With the subtle holo effect this polish also reminds me of denim. Like that perfect pair of jeans that has been worn in just right and are really comfortable.

     While not quite as sheer as Frost Bite, it's still on the sheer side for nail polish. Shown here is 2 coats plus top coat.  In my photos you can still see some VNL but it was not visible with the naked eye. 

     I ended up using Let it Go as the base for some nail art in the Christmas nail art challenge I did. You can see how it looks in this Icy blue and white manicure. I figured the color and the name where a perfect fit for the theme. 

     Now for that year long no buy I mentioned above. Its been 2 months and I've been good about not buying anything. But all you other nail bloggers out there are making me test my will power with all your gorgeous swatches and nail art. Seriously you are a bunch of talented ladies and it's been quite the challenge not giving into the temptation, but I enjoy it also. Mad props to all of you and keep up the great work!      Today I have a nail polish for you that is perfectly named for the weather we have been having here in Minnesota lately, Frost Bite by Cuttin' Edge Polish. Why is it so perfectly named? Well let's just say it was 2 degrees above freezing today and everyone was talking about what a nice warm day we were having. Yeah it's been a cold winter so far. Don't worry Mother Nature hasn't decided to spoil us, it's supposed to plummet back down to about -10 tomorrow.  That's a 40+ degree temperature swing! I shouldn't complain though because I know the east coast has had it a lot worse. 

     When I hear the word frost bite I think of an icy blue color with iridescent shimmer, but that's not exactly the case with this polish. There is a bit of a blue undertone, but Id say Frost Bite has more of a green tint to it with scattered holo mixed in. Not quite an aqua shade but maybe a faded aqua would be a good description? 

     Frost bite was originally released in the winter of 2014 as part of the Frozen trio which I snatched up the minute I saw it. At the time I was almost as obsessed with the movie as my kids were. Now the novelty has worn off a bit thanks to my daughter singing Let it Go almost daily and my Son's joining in when it comes to Do you want to build a snowman. The novelty of this polish is still there though. 

     As you can see it is a bit sheer. This is 3 coats plus top coat. I'm not a big fan of VNL but this one is subtle enough that it doesn't drive me crazy. Plus I used this as the base for my swan manicure back in December so most of it was covered.  I would layer it over another color next time instead of trying to build it up. 

  

     Application was easy and smooth with no pooling at the cuticles. I tend to get the pooling issue with sheer polishes but the consistency was just thick enough with this one to avoid that.  For a scattered holo the intensity is only sub par but I feel like if there was more it would take away from the icy, frozen feeling.

     The Frozen trio was limited edition and is no longer available but there are some other fantastic color available online if you'd like to give this brand a try. I think there are even some holiday colors on clearance. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!

     We are halfway through the Christmas Nail Art Challenge. I can't believe I've kept up so far. It's been kind of touch and go there for a few days with today being no exception. Today's theme is any line from the 12 Days of Christmas song.

      I knew I could do a pretty decent job at the 5 golden rings but I wanted to challenge myself a bit more. I decided to try the 7 swans a swimming. Let's just say that my time ran out, I put this manicure together in about 7 minutes and I don't like it at all. Because of that, this is going to be a short post.

     I'm back with the 5th day of the 12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge. Today's theme is Ice Blue and White colors. There's a lot of freedom with a prompt like this, but I knew exactly what I wanted to do as soon as I saw it.

     As many of you know Frozen was the big winter movie last year. Let's be honest it was more than a big hit, it went viral times 3. My daughter still sings the songs on a daily basis, some days my boys even join in. What you might not know is that Cuttin' Edge polish released a polish trio based on the movie. I snatched them up and then never used them... That got me thinking, what better polish to use for this theme than one inspired by the ice princess herself! And with a little stretch of the imagination, my waterfall technique turns into icicles.

 
      My base color is called Let it Go and is a beautiful medium blue linear holographic polish that has sat unloved for too long in my collection. 2 easy coats was all I needed for full coverage. True color is slightly lighter than shown here. With a much appreciated steady hand, I painted the icicles with 2 KISS stripers in White and Silver Glitter. Let's hope that steady hand sticks around for the rest of the challenge.

 
      I really like the way this turned out. Especially on the ring finger. The waterfall technique is one I've wanted to try for a while, and now I can scratch it off my manicure to-do list!
