40 Great Nail Art Ideas - 3 shades of Green

Happy Friday to everyone! I'm finally back with another look for the 40 Great Nail Art Ideas Challenge. This week is 3 shades of green! How appropriate with yesterday being St. Patricks Day. Hmmm that was some clever planning by The Crumpet huh. Or do you think it was just the luck of the Irish?

Now if you're new here you might be wondering what the 40 Great Nail Art Ideas Challenge is all about. So first of all welcome, I'm so glad you're here! And secondly, here's a little bit about what this challenge actually is. This challenge is set up a bit differently than most. For starters there is the option to do weekly manicures with one week dedicated to themes, and one to colors. Or you can do every other week and stick with themes only or colors only. For the color portion of the challenge each person is also assigned a pattern. The end result is 40 different looks all done in the same colors. As most of you know I opted to do the color challenge and you can see my previous looks using TealOrange, Purple and GreenBlack and WhiteGreyGlitter toppersPale Blue , 3 shades of Purple and Turquoise.  Whew we've done a lot of looks so far! Now for today's manicure.

My "pattern" for today was an accent nail. I know not really a pattern but it is a nail art look so it still fits the theme. And is a really easy look to pull off! After thinking way too hard about what I wanted to do for my manicure I decided on the seran wrap technique.

If you have ever done this technique you know it makes a mess. And there's nothing worse than cleaning up green nail polish from your skin right? Well blue and red polish are right up there too I guess.  I used my new bottle of Simply Peel latex barrier from My Bliss Kiss to keep the mess at bay and was very happy with the results. Plus it makes your skin sparkly when it dries and who doesnt like to sparkle?

Using Zoya Tracie as my base color I dabbed on Sinful Colors Exotic Green and China Glaze Cast a Spell. Exotic green is a rich avocado green polish with a creme finish.  It really blended in but can be seen towards the cuticle on my middle finger. Cast a spell is a dark green with hints of gold glitter polish that seemed to take over the entire manicure. Leaving me with much less depth to this look that I originally wanted.

The best blending I was able to get is shown here on my ring finger. And because of this I decided to switch up my accent nail and shift it over to the middle finger. Which I'm still not entirely sure I like honestly. I think it's just because I'm so used to seeing the accent on the ring finger.

For the finished look I used Hit the Bottle To Have and To Gold with Red Angle plate Ra-116. Sadly with all the stamping plates I own the St. Patricks themed images were slim pickings. And this clover was really my only option.  But can we take a minute to ohh and ahh over who well this gold polish stamps! Just look at how bold it is over the dark base. I am so so so glad that I finally ordered a few of these polishes to try out. And now I am anxiously awaiting a restock so I can grab a few more. Ekkk Im so excited to stamp now, which is awesome because I haven't felt like even painting my nails in over a month. So be on the look out for those new posts coming up in the future, That's all I have for now. Make sure to check out the other amazing looks from today's challenge. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!

Red, White, Blue and Marbled

Happy 1st of July! There are just 3 days left until the 4th. Do you have your manicure all picked out? If not I've got another look the help with your inspiration. I know my Patriotic French tip manicure might have looked complicated or time-consuming to some and the whole point of my blog is to inspire people to try nail art. So I opted to go for a simple nail art look today, something that even the newest nail novice could recreate. I call it Red, White, Blue and Marbled....take a look.

All you need to recreate this look is a base coat, top coat, 3 bottles of polish (red, white and blue) and 2 scraps of Saran wrap. A spectra flair top coat is optional which I ended up adding over my white polish to make it sparkle.

Photo was taken in direct sunlight

The polishes I use for this look are Zoya Nidhi, Zoya Dream, Finger Paint Paper Mache, and a spectra flair top coat.

For the accent nail, I started with 2 coats of Paper Mache and let it dry. For the marbled effect, I dipped a small piece of saran wrap into Nidhi (Red) and dabbed it onto my nail. I got a bit more polish than I wanted so I used a clean part of the saran wrap and dabbed it directly onto the nail to pull off some of the polish and help move it around the nail. I repeated this process with Dream (Blue) until I got the look I wanted.

To avoid a lot of clean up I used Crystalline Nail Veil around my nail but you could use tape to do the same thing. Anyone who has ever had to clean up red or blue polish before knows was a PITA it can be!

A quick coat of Spectra flair gives a sparkly finished look.  This might be one of the fastest nail art looks I have ever put together. I didn't have to wait for things to dry because I painted the white first and by the time I was done with the red and blue it was ready to be marbled.

What do you think of these quick nail art looks? Would you wear it on all your nails or as an accent nail like I did? Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!

The 12 Days of X-mas Mani's Day 9: Snowmen

It's that time again!  It's day 9 of the 12 days of X-mas Mani's challenge and today's theme is Snowmen.

I was really looking forward to today's challenge because I thought painting snowmen would be easy and I could rock some awesome nail art on my nails. Ummm yeah, not so much. To my surprise, I had a very hard time painting circles on my nails. What I ended up with was something that looks a lot like the snowmen my kids make, very lopsided and uneven. But that's ok, right? There's something really cute and heartwarming about my kids getting all excited, running in the house and begging me to come out and look at what they made. With that in mind I dedicate this manicure to my 3 children, and the memories we create not only during Christmas but all year round.

I started with a base of Maybelline Mystic Green and then did the saran wrap technique with Maybelline Bold Gold and Zoya Trixie. I wanted my background to have a slight texture look to it while also letting my art stand out. I then went in with my white striper and drew in my snowman shapes. I filled those in with Orly Dayglow. I added the feet, hat, and Buttons with my Black striper. I used a red and gold stripers for the scarf's and China Glaze Sci-Fly-By for the eyes. For the nose, I used Revlon Captivate.

Not perfect, but you can tell what they are supposed to be so I'm happy with that. Besides my daughter giggles and told me they were cute so that put a smile on my face. Now how did everyone else's snowmen turn out.... let's take a look by following the links below.

Maybelline Color Show Denim Dash

Hello, fellow polish lovers. Today I have a quick post on Maybelline Color Show in Denim Dash and a little nail art. Denim Dash is a deep saturated blue with subtle silver shimmer that dries to a semi-matte finish.  Application on this one was okay. It wasn't anything horrible but there was some slight streaking with the first coat. Full opacity was achieved after 2 coats.

Maybelline Color Show Denim Dash, Seran wrap manicure

I started this manicure with one idea in mind and ended up with something completely different. This happens to me a lot. Anyone else have that issue?  Originally I was going to do an accent nail of Audacious Asphalt with some stamping, then I thought about doing a tape design on that nail. My thoughts then turned to a water marble accent nail of the two colors, when I finally decided on a saran wrap accent nail. I think it gives it an almost acid washed jeans look, don't you?

I just love how the accent nail turned out. I almost wish I had done the entire manicure that way. I think the colors compliment each other really well. And the saran wrap manicure is such an easy way to do nail art.

Thanks for stopping by. Id love to hear your thoughts on this color. Happy Polishing!
