Sally Girl - Curfew

Happy Friday everyone! Anyone else glad this week is almost over? I have had a heck of a week at work and am more than ready to just out my feet up and relax. Maybe at the new Cinderella movie, anyone else going to see it? I'm still in my unable to pick a polish funk so this time I had my son pick one out. He opted to raid my mini collection and picked out Curfew by Sally Girl.

Curfew is a berry pink with lighter pink shimmer. Shown here is 2 coats plus top coat. It's a bit on the sheer side but built up nicely during application. 3 coats would cover that VNL. I opted to only do 2 since that is the typical number of coats people apply. Plus I know most people tend to skim through blog posts and might not catch if I had applied more to reach full opacity. So going for full transparency about this polish you get 2 coats, VNL and all. Did you catch what I did there... hehehe I'm so clever in my overly tired state, or at least I think I am.

Application was easy. I did have a minor issue with the smaller brush tonight and ended up with more polish along the sides of my nails than I usually do. Which is odd because the smaller brushes typically work better for me. I'm not entirely convinced it was the brushes fault though, it may have been user error. Did I mention I've had a rough week?

I'm sure my daughter actually picked this one out during one of our many shopping trips to Sally's. She seems to think that because the bottles are so small that they must be meant for her.  She's so cute about it and they are cheap enough that I usually give in and let her pick out 2 each and every time. What can I say I'm a push over when it comes to her nail polish logic. After all she does make an excellent point.

Sydney was a little disappointed that I didn't let her pick the nail polish this time around. But she recovered quickly and decided that she wanted to paint her nails for this post too, but only if she could use a polish she picked out. 6 years old and already a little Diva. Lord help me when the teenage years hit.

Sydney decided to stick with the pink theme and use one of her  own polishes and she painted her nails all by herself.  It actually looked much better before she did her "clean up". She has a tendency to remove the polish from the nail and leave it on her skin. This is her non dominant hand and she's making a lot of progress when it comes to painting it, now we need to get her to stop biting her nails. She's taking after her mamma when it comes to the nail polish obsession and I couldn't be prouder. Who knows, maybe when she's a little older she'll have a blog of her own.

I know this was a little bit of a scattered post and if you've stuck with me this far I'm impressed. I'm going to take the weekend to rest up and hopefully things will calm down next week. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!

  7. Aw, I love her pink manicure too!!! I'm lucky I don't have girls because I would be even more broke from buying polish for them!

  9. I'm a sucker for pink nail polish, when I was little it was the only color I owned.

  10. She has her own little space set up where she can paint them. Complete with her own cotton balls, small bottle of remover and clean up brush. I used the square piece of cardboard that came in a case of water as her "desktop" so I don't have to worry about polish on my counter. We will paint out nails together sometimes.

  11. It's hard to get my sons interested. My oldest rolls his eyes and leaves the room when nail polish is mentioned but my 8 yr old begs to do the designs for water marbling and will help pick out a color from time to time. My daughter wants to help all the time. I even let her do a complete post last year. I typed it but the words were all her.

  12. She loves painting her nails. She even has her own little set up so she can do it on her own and I don't have to worry about polish getting everywhere.

  13. Thanks! The student I was working with last week is very low functioning and gets aggressive easily so the week seemed twice as long. Thankfully I'm quick enough that he only caught me once and not very hard. I feel sorry for the lady who works with him on a regular basis but I also respect her so much more now. And I am so thankful that I am lucky enough to have happy healthy kids.

  14. I could only imagine how helpful the cats would be with nail polish. I had quite a few growing up and folding laundry was always interesting. Thanks for sticking with me through my ramblings!

  15. I have turned her into a polishaholic just like me, and I may have had the same effect on my boyfriends daughters. We've all spent a day painting out nails together on more than one occasion.

  16. My boyfriends daughter has gotten into nail art in the last year and I find myself picking up things for her all the time. Striping tape, dotting tools, thinner. And she does her friends nails. I'll get random texts asking me how to do things or for tips all the time. She's 13 and is getting pretty good at nail art. I'm just waiting for the day I get a text asking if she and her friends can come over and play in my polish room.

  17. It was a weekend of half relaxing and half not. The weather here got so nice I had to take the kids for a day outside. So we spent 4 hours walking around the zoo. But I got to take a nap afterwards which was heaven!

  18. It's so cute!! I created a little nail monster with my almost 3 year old niece. To the point that anytime she see polish on someone's nails She goes "Ohh, CheyChey did them?!" It's hilarious!! I got her her first set of non toxic nail polish for Christmas which she is obsessed with!! Haha

  20. oh thats so cute! I started painting my daughters nails at about 3 yrs old and she's been hooked every since. I did have to teach her to not go into my helmers and just take whatever polish she wanted, but I have a bunch of mini's in a box that she can use whenever.

  21. It's a really fun way to spend some one on one time with her but I am creating a little polish monster at the same time. She can be very specific with what she wants and her tiny nails don't leave much room for nail art. lol
