Sinful Colors - Pink Smart and Charmed
So a few weeks ago when Walgreens was having their $.99 Sinful Color sale I was lucky enough to find a few that I didnt already own, Which usually never happens so I broke my no buy a bit and picked 2 up. I figured $2 wasn't really breaking my no buy since I spend almost that much on a pop every day. What were these 2 colors? Pink Smart from the What's Hot 2015 Collection and Charmed from the Glitz and Glittered Collection. It turned out that Charmed is not actually a new color. It's just been reformulated and I missed it the first time around.
First up is Pink Smart, a saturated baby pink creme polish that makes my skin look very tan. I love it what a polish does that! This overly pale girl needs all the help she can get.

Application was only ok with this one. The first coat applied slightly streaky and was not self leveling. The streaking disappears after 2 coats and you're left with a smooth semi-gloss finish. Shown here is 2 coats plus top coat. I've heard rumors that this is a Walgreens exclusive color.

Next we have Charmed, a clear base with Pink and Silver micro glitters. I originally thought the base had a pink tint but when I tested it on a piece of paper all hints of pink were gone. I do see Pink in the bottle so it has to be glitters even though they are hard to see layered over a pink polish.
Application of Charmed was better than Pink Smart. I had nice even glitter coverage with each coat. Shown in my photos is 2 coats plus top coat but I could have gotten away with just 1. I would avoid trying to use this on it's own, I have a feeling it would take 5 or 6 coats to get full coverage and no one wants that many layers in their nails.
Charmed made my nails so sparkly that I had a had time photographing it in natural light. I did have good luck with my light box and was able to get this macro shot.
The finish of Charmed is a little gritty thanks to all that yummy glitter but a good top coat smooths everything out. That's all I have for you today, don't forget to enter my 3 year Facebook Giveaway if you haven't yet. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!
Too bad the pink creme doesn't apply nicely - it looks so cute! Especially with the glitter added :).
ReplyDeleteCharmed is totally amazing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty pairing together!
ReplyDeleteI think it will make a very versatile topper for anyone's collection.
ReplyDeleteThankfully the formula wasn't so bad that I don't want to use it again. I think if I did a slightly thicker coat I could avoid the streaking.
ReplyDeleteThank you =)
ReplyDeleteI really love Pink Smart on you, it looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I couldn't get over how tan it made me look!
ReplyDeleteOooh those are so pretty! Love the glitter and the pink is the perfect bubblegum pink! Gonna have to be on the look out for these :D
ReplyDeleteI have to not allow myself to go into Walgreens anymore when I go to the city due to the siren call of the polish aisle. I remember going nuts on one .99 Sinful sale and the clerk was like, you having a manicure party? Uh, yeah...
ReplyDeleteSinful always makes really pretty pinks. My personal favorite is Starfish.
ReplyDeleteCharmed is really pretty!! I haven't bought a Sinful Colors polish in so long, which is weird because they used to be my favorite brand.
ReplyDeleteYou really picked some fantastic ones. I've recently found myself loving Sinful Colors again, which is dangerous considering how often they have those 99 cent deals. Lol.
ReplyDeleteI was so surprised that I found some I didn't already own. Usually I walk in there and it's the same stuff.
ReplyDeleteI may have gone nuts last year during one of their sales. I think I picked up 20 polishes and the cashier just looked at me like I was crazy. I gave her a weak smile and mentioned that I blog about nail polish. Pretty sure she laughed at me and asked if I'd ever finished a bottle. Now I just smile at them when they give me strange looks.
ReplyDeleteI think I have that one. Im going to have to did it out now that you mentioned it.
ReplyDeleteI went a really long time without buying any because I couldn't find any that I didn't already own. But I always look and when I do find one it's like I won the jackpot. lol
ReplyDeletelol I use them in most of my water marbles. I figure they are so cheap it doesn't bother me if I use a lot.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I love the satiny finish of the pink one!
ReplyDeleteI love Charmed on you!! Buying polish is totally better than buying soda anyways!!
ReplyDeleteMe too! I think it's going to be my go to polish this summer.
ReplyDeleteNO kidding, especially since Im trying to cut back on the soda and finally lose that last little bit of baby weight that has been hanging around.
ReplyDeletePink Smart looks great on you! I love a nice baby pink!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It's my favorite pink right now =)
ReplyDeleteI really like the shade on pink for Pink Smart, too bad about the application though. :(
ReplyDeleteIm not a huge fan of the application but it wasnt so bad that I wont reach for it again.
ReplyDeleteI think this pink color looks very girly!
ReplyDeleteThis shade looks so great on your nails, it looks perfect <3
Have a great week!

Awe thanks! I love the way Pink Smart looked gain my skin tone.
ReplyDeleteCharmed is the BOMB DIGGITY!! I have a neutral leaning toward cool skin tone and I wear this all by itself, almost all the time. Don't ask - I just like a signature! The color is like a coolish taupey purple, (purpley taupe??) if that makes sense. I get total opacity in 2 coats, it dries super fast, and it wears like iron. If I want to play up the texture, I just go very light on the top coat, using Sally Hansen Hard As Diamonds, which seems to me to be thinner. If I want more shine and smoothness, I use Seche Vite top coat. As a fab extra - my nails are HARD, and almost never break or chip. For a buck?!? I'll take that!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! And there's nothing wrong with having a signature color. =)
