Polish Addict Nail Color - Asylum
Happy Monday! How was your weekend? Mine was fabulous actually. I got to get together with my best friends from High School and celebrate the Holidays. And now it's time to get back to business I guess. Today I have Asylum from Polish Addict Nail Color to share with you.
Asylum is a black holo with iridescent lime green, and gold glitters and green iridescent shimmer. Does anyone else see a night sky when looking at this, maybe a few constellations in those glitters? That's what this reminds me of, especially when I look at my ring finger.
The application was typical of a black polish with the first coat being pretty sheer. But the polish flowed smoothly and there was no fishing for glitters required. Shown here is 2 coats plus top coat. The first coat was pretty thin and then a thicker second coat for full opacity.
You'll want to use the foil method for removal. Those pretty glitters seem to have a super grip on the nail. This is one of those times I wish I'd used my peel off base coat.
Asylum is still available for purchase, however, Laura has put the shop on hold while she restructures. As of right now, I'm not sure when she will re-open. If I get a concrete date I will update this post. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!
Ooh. I really like this. I love how it almost makes its own gradient just by applying a little thicker at the free edge!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, I can totally see the night sky! And I know what you mean, sometimes on those polishes with the tiny glitters I forget about using a peel off base coat and totally regret it when I go to remove, haha.
ReplyDeleteoooh, how pretty!
ReplyDeleteAaah, I know what you mean with the super grip glitters - I sometimes have to pick them off with an orange wood stick O.o
ReplyDeleteI hate when glitters seem to be stuck on the nails like that.
ReplyDeleteThat's super pretty! I am very lazy lately and never use my peel-off base and then the hell when it's time to remove those glitters!
ReplyDeleteI've got a few similar to this but none of them have those larger glitter pieces. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks pretty on you! I have not tried the foil method yet. I have heard about it,just need to try it out soon.
ReplyDeleteI didn't even notice that until you mentioned it. Great observation. =)
ReplyDeleteYeah I didn't expect the removal to be like a typical glitter on this one at all.
ReplyDeleteI love the extra sparkle from the green shimmer!
ReplyDeleteThat's actually what I ended up doing after letting the cotton ball sit on my nail for a bit. I had zero patience when it came time for removal.
ReplyDeleteMe too. And I guess I should have known better but live and learn right. =)
ReplyDeleteI may have said a few choice words under my breath when they didn't come off right away. Sad thing is I had the peel off base coat sitting next to me.
ReplyDeleteThose larger glitters are what sold me on purchasing it actually.
ReplyDeleteThanks, And I actually use the foil method every time I remove nail polish, except I leave the foil out. It just quicker for me to do it that way.
ReplyDeleteThis polish is not my cup of tea but you make it look great. :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks great on you! I *always* forget to use peel of base, and often too lazy to do the foil method, so I just scrub them off! haha
ReplyDeleteThis is a really pretty polish. I always fall for these deep vampy colors with a twinge of color.
ReplyDeleteIt looks so squishy! I like the depth of the jelly with the holo and subtle glitter - looks great!
ReplyDeleteI can respect that. We all have our own tastes. =)
ReplyDeleteI tend to start with the foil method and then "scrape" the really pesky glitters off with a rubber cuticle pusher.
ReplyDeleteThe bigger glitters are what really sold me on buying this. That hint of color they give off is different from my other black holo polishes.
ReplyDeleteThanks =) I really like the addition of the glitters. Makes it stand out from my other black holo polishes.
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty!! This would be a great base for galaxy nails!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea!
ReplyDeleteOh this is very galaxy-esque! i'm a sucker for those shifty glitters...
ReplyDeleteI hadn't thought to use this in a galaxy manicure until I read the previous comment. But I think it would look great used that way. I don't think I would add a ton of other colors to it though, maybe just some yellow and white. That way it wouldn't take anything away from Asylum as a base but still give that galaxy feel.
