Make-up by One Direction- The Up All Night kit

Today I'm breaking from my normal nail polish post to bring you a new makeup kit from One Direction. There is a nail polish in the kit so I'm not straying too much.
Makeup by One Direction is a range of makeup and cosmetic products celebrating youth, style, and the uninhibited lifestyle of a new generation. Celebrating life with bold shades, unique formulas and infused with limited edition collectible packaging, Makeup from One Direction is fun, bold, often irreverent, with a touch of cheeky mischievousness. Offered at prices that every girl and woman can afford.
The Up All Night Collection

“The Looks Collection” comprises three keepsake tins inspired by One Direction’s globe-conquering albums, “Up All Night, “Take Me Home” and the latest chart-topper, ‘Midnight Memories.” Each tin comes complete with everything you need to show off your personality. Are you a rock n’ roll girl, a fun party girl or the girl next door? We have just the right collection for you and illustrations to help show you just how to get your perfect look. All your beauty essentials are housed in a LIMITED EDITION collectible keepsake tin with removable sleeve, complete with ONE DIRECTION doodle stencils to decorate your keepsake tin and make it uniquely your own!

I decided to go with a simple but still pushing my comfort zone look. I'm not normally a blue eyeshadow type of girl and that lipstick was a bit bright for me personally.

See what I mean about the lipstick. Very bright and could be fun for the right occasion. And I have a feeling it is perfect for the One Direction fan demographic or someone with the confidence to pull it off.

The eyeshadow applied nicely and blended really well. I like that fact that I wasn't left with bright blue eyeshadow that I may have shamelessly rocked back in the '80s. Think Mimi from the Drew Carey Show.

There is a sophistication to this kit that takes it from '80s wow to appropriate to now. Even with lining the bottom of my eye with blue I still felt like it was a look I could wear out.

And this make-up has staying power right down to that bright pink lip. I applied this look when I first woke and it was still going strong at dinner time lips and all.

The nail polish that came in the kit is called Na Na Na and is a nice shimmery aqua that shifts to turquoise. The application was smooth but the polish is really sheer. I used 4 coats and you can still see some thinner patches.  I do love the color and will probably wear this again, but I'll be using undies for sure.

Overall I think the quality of this kit is right up there with the big name brands. It's not colors that I would normally choose for myself, but I do like the way adding the blue under my eyes make their blue color really pop. I would have missed out on that if  I hadn't been given this opportunity. My only real complaint is that the product is hard to remove from the packaging. I think it took me 2 minutes to get the mascara out and I seriously thought I was going to break a nail.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!

  1. I'm surprised at how sheer that polish is - it looked like it would be a nice, opaque color in the bottle!

    1. It was a little surprising to me too. Thankfully it wasn't a PITA to work with.

    1. LOL,I kind of did too, but don't think I have the courage to wear it out in public. I'm so boring when it comes to my make up (when I actually wear it) Slowly I'm starting to venture out past my comfortable, trusted light tan eye shadow and muted pink lip.

    1. I was hoping people would get a laugh out of that. I like the nail polish too, it s really pretty color and I was only able to capture about half it's beauty with my camera.

  4. Looks like a fun kit. Probably colors I won't wear often though.

    1. It was fun to play around with, but I agree I probably wont wear them much. The boy friends 13 year old daughter had already asked me if she could have it. She's a huge 1D fan and the only reason I know some of their songs.

  5. This kit looks fresh and cool. It's always fun to do something after your comfort zone every once in a while. I think that lippie looks fab on you!

    2. lol you should see some of the type-o's I've had in leaving comments before. I knew what you meant though. And you want to know a secret? I kind of like that lippy on me too, but I don't think I have the confidence to really pull it off. I'm a bit of a wall flower in my real life.

  6. Great review! I had the same problem with the polish- it is way too sheer! I think it would look nice over a teal, so that is how I'll probably wear it next. :)

    1. Thanks =) I think everyone who got to review these got the same kit. I've yet to come across one for the other two. You're right about needing some undies for this polish, it's just too sheer for most people.

  7. I have to admit, I'm not a fan of this kit. Probably because I really don't like One Direction and I feel like this is almost just another way for them to make money. But I think you did a great job reviewing the products and the eyeshadow does look really nice on you!

    1. And I have to admit that I agree with your statement 100%. Well about the 1D part. And thanks for the compliments on my review. I never really know what I should do for make-up posts.
