Let's Go Camping Nail Art Challenge Day 2: Nature

It's day 2 of the Let's Go Camping Nail Art Challenge and today's prompt is Nature. I hope you enjoyed yesterday's nail art. If you missed it just click here on Day 1.

For today's theme, I had a few ideas running through my head and finally decided on a scene of flowers in a meadow and the sun shining down. My oldest son said it reminded him of a watercolor painting so I'll be interested to see if you feel the same.

I started with a base of Sinful Colors Rain Rubber to use as my sky. This is one of their textured polishes. It really does look like rubber when dry, and before topcoat of course. The coverage I got with this was amazing, what you see is 1 coat!

I used a yellow striper to make the sun and 2 green stripers for the grass. Then I sponged on a mixture of China Glaze Pelican Grey and Milani White on the Spot for my clouds. I tried to sponge on a little orange into my sun to give it some depth but that didn't work out so well. It still has some of what I was going for so that's a plus. For my flowers, I used Rimmel Funtime Fuchsia and Purple Reign.  Looking at this picture now I see that some of the texture from Rain Rubber made it through the top coat. Maybe if a thin coat is used, all the texture would come through?

So what do you think of my Nature manicure? Part of me wanted to add a little bug in there somewhere but I'm glad I decided against it. I like my flowers bug free anyway. Check back tomorrow for the last day of the nail art challenge. You'll get to see my version of a bonfire. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!

    1. Awe thank you. I love the color of the blue, not exactly sure how I feel about the texture yet. I think I'll have to wear it as a full manicure to be sure.

    1. Awe thank you! I actually had a lot of fun putting this manicure together, even though I didn't have a clear idea of what I was going for when I first started.

  4. This is so cute and happy. I love textured polishes - they're like two in one. Add topcoat, and it's normal. Go without, and have a secret texture. Rubbery ones are cool. Love the flowers!

    1. Thank you. I'm still deciding if I like the rubbery textured polishes. It took me a long time to try the pixie dust and liquid sand ones and I love them. I'm sure I will end up liking these in the future too.

    1. About a month ago I sat down and set up some goals for my blog. One of them was to do more nail art. The other was to work on my free hand nail art. I'm hoping to participate in more challenges in the next few months, working my way up to the big 31 day challenge.

    1. Thank you. I really wanted that to look like grass and not just a bunch of green lines on my nails.

    1. The more I look at it the more I have to agree. I think the textured background helps give it that feel.

  9. I love how this looks! It reminds me of the times when I was traveling with my family as a child and we'd stop by the side of the road and have lunch - usually somewhere pretty with flowers and the sun beating down. :)

    1. That's a great childhood memory! Some of my best memories involve being outdoors on sunny afternoons with friends and family.
