Julie G- Santorini
Today I have Julie G Santorini from the Cruise Collection for Summer 2014. I know this is not your typical fall colored nail polish but, today I'm shaking things up and throwing the rulebook out the window!
Santorini is a light cornflower blue nail polish that reminds me of a beautiful cloudless sky. There was a hint of shimmer that caught my eye in certain lighting but was so subtle that my camera couldn't capture it.
The application was pretty good, This polish was a little thicker than I am used to and I had some small splotches at the base of my nails with the first coat. I had to wait for the first coat to dry completely before applying the second or I got some slight dragging. Everything dried to an even, smooth, glossy finish. Shown here is 2 coats without top coat.
This is such a pretty shade of blue. I can't wait to wear this again with some glittery tips. I just got the perfect glitter polish in the mail to use. How's that for luck! Speaking of glitter polishes, I used Santorini as a base color for a glitter topper earlier this year. Check out this image from my review of the Veils Collection by Maybelline.
Don't they look made for each other? How would you wear Santorini? Alone, with glitter, or as a base for nail art? Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!
Oh wow, the base colour alone is already too pretty, and with the glitter topper it is like an ice princess mani, love it.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I think this is one polish that will look good no matter how you wear it, but I do love it with glitter!
DeleteI have this color, but I agree that it was a bit disappointing about the shimmer. :(
ReplyDeleteIm so glad someone else saw the shimer in it. I was beginning to think that I had imagined it. I keep looking at the bottle to see it and have only gotten a glimpse.
DeleteThat Julie G is just so pretty!
ReplyDeleteFunny thing is about 2 years ago I never would have thought to wear a blue nail polish. Now I own a bunch of them and actually like wearing them.
DeleteOooh, very pretty! I'd probably wear it as a base under glitter, too!
ReplyDeleteIt really works well for that!
DeleteNice pairing here!
ReplyDeleteThanks =)
DeleteSantorini is such a pretty blue and I love it on you!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dani =)
DeleteWhat a pretty blue! I love a good cornflower blue polish :)
ReplyDeleteMe too and this one is my favortie so far.
DeleteAh! I just bought a blue glitter yesterday that would be great over such a base! It's a lovely cornflower blue!
ReplyDeleteOhhh what did you get? The one I got in the mail is Shimmer Jennifer. I cant wait to pair them together.
DeleteYay for throwing rule books out the window! I'm all for any color polish no matter the time of year. This is a lovely pairing!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I throw the rule book outmore often than I follow it I think. lol
DeleteThis one is a beauty! I was going to pick it up when that collection was out but never did! I loved that glitter pairing that you did as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I picked up the entire colleciton from Groupon this summer. They are my first JulieG's and Im loving them so far.
DeleteOooohh that is one pretty blue! and I agree, the glitter is a perfect match! <3
ReplyDeleteThank you. I loved how the two polishes looked together.
DeleteThat's such a lovely color! I don't think I have anything close to that in my collection. I love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks. It is the only one like this in my collection. All the other cornflower blues I own don't even compare.
DeleteI had trouble with this formula but the color is so fab it's almost worth it! Looks great on you and I love the layering of the glitter!
ReplyDeleteAs bad as it sounds Im glad to hear that I wasn't the only one that had issues with application. I read a few posts where bloggers had said it was great. I was beginning to wonder if I hadnt mixed it up well enough after it sat here untouched for over a month.
DeleteThe shade is gorgeous! Love it with glitter as well
ReplyDeleteThanks. These two polishes feel made for eachother.
