Zoya - Katy
Today I have yet another pink polish to share with you. This time it's Zoya Katy. Now I am a lover of pink nail polish in case you hadn't noticed but I picked this polish up specifically for the name. Even though it's not spelled the same I thought it was still cool to have a nail polish with my name on it. I admit it I'm a bit of a dork but I'm ok with that.
Katy is a berry pink polish with subtle magenta shimmer. Originally released in the Oh La La collection in 2009. At the time Zoya described this as a pink metallic. I don't know about you but I just don't see metallic when I look at this. The description has since been updated to " a deep magenta pink with faint purple undertones and fine bright pink shimmer" Much better in my opinion.
How do I know about the description change? I'm a mom I know everything! Oh wait you aren't my kids that line probably wont work will it. Actually, I looked up previous blog posts to help with my color description because "pink shimmer" just didn't sound right. I found quite a few posts with Pink Metallic listed and it made me giggle.
The application process was what I have come to expect from Zoya, nice smooth even coverage. Shown here is 2 coats plus top coat. The only bummer about it is that the shimmer is very subtle and even harder to capture on film. You can see it in the bottle just above the word Zoya and maybe if you squint real hard when looking at my nails. Right around the light reflections, do you see it there? No? Squint harder... there ya go. I bet you see it now, just hanging out there faintly, taunting me with its existence.
As pretty as this is I wanted to spice it up a bit so I free handed some french tips using Orly Ingenue. Not sure I love it but it worked in a pinch. Would probably have worked better if Id layered it over my ring finger as an accent nail. Live and learn right, besides that's why they make acetone.
So there you have it, my 3rd pink nail polish post in 3 weeks. 4th if you count the pink I used in my neon gradient. I promise to mix things up and not blog about another pink for at least a month, well unless I get sent one to review and then it's really out of my hands. =)
I hope you enjoyed my off beat post. I am clearly suffering from vacation blues with going back to work after almost 3 weeks off. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!
I like pinks :D moar pinks aren't bad at all!
ReplyDeleteI am apparently in a pink mood lately. Every polish I grab is pink. Funny since I don't like to wear pink in my clothes.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I own my Zoya namesake as well, but it's boring :-/
ReplyDeleteNope, no metallic... Sometimes I crack up at their finish descriptions. Satin shimmer maybe??? They have a Brigitte. It's spelled correctly and all and I have yet to buy it... I will one of these days. Love namesake polishes!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty pink shade, I actually hadn't seen it before!
ReplyDeleteThat line totally works because us mums really do know everything!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely shade!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure I own Zoya Shelby too. Isnt it a brighter pink color?
ReplyDeleteThanks =)
ReplyDeleteThat's a great shade and uhm, not metallic haha :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great color for your namesake! Love this swatch - it looks great on you.
ReplyDelete2009, wow! :) My nickname growing up was Katy so I love this polish for that alone. It seems like a super fun bright pink for spring!
ReplyDeleteYep not metallic at all! lol Sometimes descriptions of nail polishes make me laugh.
ReplyDeleteThank you =)
ReplyDeleteAren't namesake polishes fun!
ReplyDeleteIt's a blue-leaning bubblegum pink. Meh. Looks terrible on me!
ReplyDeleteKaty is so pretty on you!! They have a Danni too and even though it's not spelled the same, I need to pick it up for the same reasons LOL
ReplyDeleteWell that stinks. Hopefully you find one with your name that you love!
