Valentine's Day Nail Art : Heart Beat

Valentine's is just around the corner and I thought it might be fun to do a week's worth of nail art looks to celebrate. This might be a challenge for me as I've been called into sub for the entire week and my kids start swimming lessons today. Which means my free time will be limited, but I'm hoping to get it all worked in. Who knows I might just paint my nail while sitting by the pool and see how many strange looks I can get.

Starting things off is a manicure that has been floating around Pinterest and Facebook since I first became interested in nail art. I've seen so many recreations that I honestly have no idea who to credit! I'm hoping that just stating that this is not an original idea will be ok.

Valentines-manicure

I'm sure this will look familiar to a lot of you, but it's a manicure that I fell in love with the first time I saw it. I thought it was so cute and really wanted to try to recreate it for almost 2 years now. I attempted it a few times with nail polish and it always ended up a mess. This time around I used acrylic paint and I got the results I was going for.

I used Finger Paints Paper Mache as my base color and black and red acrylic paint for the rest. My hands were so shaky when I was doing this I'm surprised I could come close to drawing straight lines. Next time I won't be drinking Mt. Dew while attempting nail art.

Overall I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. I still need to work on my curved lines but it's getting better, and I've got a few more heart themed manicures to practice with. Who knows maybe by the end of the week I'll have mastered curved nail art. Hey, a girl can dream can't she?

With as popular as this design is I'd love to know if you've created it? Or what is your favorite look to wear on your nails for Valentines?  Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!

  15. Oh I bet your patients would get a kick out of it. This was actually pretty easy to do once I switched over to using acrylic paint for the design.

  16. Thanks. They had a blast. my daughter was worried because she couldn't wear her life jacket. First words out of her mouth when the lesson was over were " That was Awesome!" She has a flair for the dramatics which she gets from my theater major parents.

  18. Thank you so much. I figured it was finally time to actually do the full manicure instead of just starting it and giving up after the first mistake.

  22. Thank you. These turned out better than I thought they would but I had issues with the application of the heart part. I'm jealous of the ladies who can paint the swirly designs on their nails.
