     Hi Everyone, today I've got a few nail art looks to share with you using polishes from the Orly Darlings of Defiance Collection. If you didn't see my post reviewing the collection not to worry, you can read all about it by following the link above. If you did already catch that post then you know I mentioned trying to see if a few of the polishes worked well for stamping. 

     While I haven't gotten around to trying all of them yet because you know life, I do have two looks to share with you today. One testing out some stamping and the other a gradient showing how well the colors in this collection go together. So let's get to it!

     First up is the stamped look with Champagne Slushe. You remember how this beautiful color was completely ruined by the brushstrokes? Yes, I was crushed by this but I wasn't ready to discount this polish yet, I loved the color too much and it was so opaque I knew I wanted to stamp with it.

   
     Using Faux Peal as my base I went in and stamped with Champagne Slushe and Hit the Bottle As Black as Night. The image is from Uber Chic plate Holiday Jingle.



    I love the way these polishes work together, and the look was perfect for the holiday season without being over the top. I can see myself wearing this design again but, maybe just as an accent nail paired with a bright red manicure or even black. What do you think?



     The next look I have for you is a gradient that had a luxurious and elegant feel for me. I'm not entirely sure if it was the color combination or the fact that my nails are getting so long. Whichever it is, this look is a winner in my book.


     Using Penny Leather as my base color I went in and sponged Penny Leather and Champagne Slushe for the gradient. Does that give you an idea just how opaque Champagne Slushe is? Ordinarily, I recommend painting the lighter color first so that it will show up in the gradient easier. I had zero issues with coverage and only had to go over my nails twice with the sponge to get a nice blend.


      I debated reversing the color order but I think having the gold at the tips made all the difference. I have a feeling the darker color at the tips would make my nails look shorter and just change the overall feeling of this manicure.

     Hello, fellow Nailistas. I've got a quick post to share with you today featuring Con Artist from Nvr Enuff. I received Con Artist in my V.I.P bag from Polishcon Chicago last fall. I'm a bit ashamed to say that I wore this back at the beginning of October and am just getting around to blogging it now.  In my defense, it's a great polish for fall or winter so I'm still seasonally appropriate right?

     Con Artist is a dusty mauve nail polish with iridescent glass flecks and a smattering of gold micro glitter. I get a warm cozy feeling just looking at it. 

       The application was smooth and even with tons of glitter in each coat. Two easy coats are all you need to reach full opacity. Shown here is two coats plus a glossy top coat.

      After wearing this for a few days I decided to add an accent nail. I reached for some nail vinyls and my bottle of Lumina Lacquers Soliel to create this.

     Today is my first post in a year-long challenge that I've set up for myself. If you read my post on making 2018 a great year for my blog then you already have a hint as to what this challenge might be. Or maybe you've figured it out based on the title of this post, maybe not. Either way, I'm excited to get this challenge started and I hope that many of you will decide to join me whenever you can. I have an event set up on my facebook page with all the details. 

     Just what is this year-long challenge? It's for all those untried polishes I know we all have sitting around in our collections. I'm calling it the Untried A-Z challenge and the premise is simple.Every other week I'm going to blog about an untried polish in my collection starting with the letter A and working my way to Z. See I told you it was simple. Plus there are 26 letters in the alphabet and 52 weeks in a year so it works out perfectly! 

     Now you can go any route you want to with this. Use the brand name or polish name as your letter. You can choose to do a straight swatch or incorporate nail art into your look. As long as you go in alphabetical order that's really the only rule. Why alphabetical you might ask? Have you seen the amount of untried nail polish I own!? Just take a peek at my collection list and you'll get the picture.  There are so many polishes to choose from, and just how exactly was I supposed to decide? Going alphabetically will help narrow it down a bit and keep me on track. So have fun, join in and let's get this challenge started!

     For my letter A polish I went with a polish that's relatively new to my collection but still untried. Nevermind Polish Aamon from the Daemounum Collection released last summer. This collection is still available for purchase if you find yourself wanting a bottle.

     How is everyone today? I hope the New Year has treated you well so far. Today I'm sharing my thoughts on the new collection from Orly called Darlings of Defiance. This 6 color collection has 4 creme polishes, a metallic and a  frosty shimmer.  Just like the Velvet Dreams Collection, Orly has done a great job with the formulas of these polishes. Let's jump right in a take a look.

Champagne Slushe

     Color: Pale champagne gold metallic nail polish.

     Application: Champagne Slushe is an extremely opaque nail polish. Shown here is one coat plus top coat. Sadly it suffers greatly from brushstrokes and is not very forgiving to any nail imperfections you may have. You see easily see where my nail peeled slightly at the tip of my middle finger.
