Lumina Lacquers- Soleil

It's Friday! I think that calls for a fun, sparkly nail polish. So today I have just that for you. Ladies and Gentlemen feast your eyes upon Lumina Lacquers Soleil.

Gold-Glitter-Indie-Nail-Polish

A golden micro glitter polish that is extremely holographic. Soleil is the sister polish to Maleficent and Silver Springs! While all 3 polishes are beautiful, Soleil is my favorite and the only one I own from the trio.  In fact, I fell in love with this polish and found myself hitting the purchase button before I was halfway through reading the review from Imperfectly Painted.

Micro-Glitter-Holographic-Gold-Nail-Polish

The application was pretty good for a glitter polish. I was able to get lots of glitter on the brush and it flowed smoothly. If you're one to apply thin coats you will need 3 or 4 to reach full opacity. The glitter likes to move around on the nail with thinner coats. But if you're like me and tend to do thicker layers you can get away with 2.

Gold-Hologrpahic-indie-nail-polish

Soleil does dry to a rougher texture and is top coat hungry. I used 2 layers of top coat to get a nice smooth finish.

Even though I absolutely love this polish wearing it alone as a full manicure can be a bit much so I decided to add some stamping on top. I used my new Winstonia plate W-04 and Finger Paints Black Expressionism for this design.

Black-Stamping-Over-Gold-Micro-Glitter-Nail-Polish

Please forgive the picture quality, I took it with my cell phone after being at a BBQ all day. And my flash may have gone off, but you get to see just how sparkly Soleil is this way. I get bonus points for that right.

What do you think of Soleil? This might just be the first polish I've purchased that I want to get a backup for. I can see myself using this all the time as an accent nail, or for nail art. Also, did you notice I use bigger pictures in this post? I'd love to hear your thoughts on that too. Should I stick with this size or go back to my original size?

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!

Champagne Blush

Finally! An amazing rose gold holographic polish with personality!

The lovely Champagne Blush is a sophisticated vintage pink holographic polish enveloped by a wonderfully crisp gold hue.

This polish is a serious stunner that will without a doubt blow your mind in any type of lighting!

Homecoming

Homecoming is a gorgeous deep eggplant purple holographic polish stuffed with gold flakes for a unique finish.

The precise touch of gold in Homecoming really sets it apart from similar polishes. You'll definitely fall in love after the first stroke!

Fall Semester

Fall Semester is a wonderfully deep and sultry teal holographic nail polish that's beautiful indoors and spectacular in the sunlight.

If you're looking for the perfect dark teal, Fall Semester is just right for the season!

Black Orchid

Words aren't enough to express how pleased I am with this polish. I've been daydreaming about this color for almost 2 years now and every time I tried to make it, the end result was never quite as I pictured... until now!

Black Orchid is an absolutely gorgeous deep burgundy / purple holographic polish. It's simply stunning under any type of light, indoor or outdoor.

Ultra feminine and beyond sexy, Black Orchid is definitely a keeper!

Atomic Sherbet

Atomic Sherbet is an elegantly bright and fun orange-leaning holographic polish.

Look closer and you'll find that you can't help but notice that there's a lot more to it than you may have expected!

Atomic Sherbet is also stuffed with luxurious gold micro flakes that easily take this polish to the next level! You'll love it!

MEGA (L)

Oh yes! A new version of MEGA for the die-hard holo connoisseurs out there!

MEGA (L) is the most linear, pure holographic polish out there. The difference between MEGA and MEGA (L) is subtle but extremely significant to holo lovers everywhere!

MEGA (L) is made up of much smaller holographic pigment particles than the original MEGA. The end result is an intense holographic manicure with beautiful and silky appearing coverage along with a much smoother ("linear") appearing rainbow effect in direct light.

Comparison swatch included :)

Peace (H)

Peace (H) is a holographic version of the original Peace Ultra Chrome polish!

Peace is an astonishingly beautiful Ultra Chrome and a new personal favorite of mine and this holographic version of the polish is even sweeter!!

Depending on the light and angle of your fingertips, Peace (H) will magically shift through vivid hues of blue, purple, fuchsia, pink, and even a subtle coppery gold.

The vibrancy of Peace (H) is something you have to see in person to believe! This polish is so beautifully perfect, it’s almost guaranteed to be a distraction to you and the people around you. Oh well! :)

Bishop (H)

Bishop (H) is a holographic version of the original Bishop Ultra Chrome polish!

The new Bishop (H) is stuffed with the perfect amount of holographic sparkle to really make it pop!

Bishop (H) is a uniquely regal Ultra Chrome that shifts from a refined gold to a light olive-green. You may even notice subtle hints of grayish blue in the right lighting conditions.

Masquerade (H)

Masquerade (H) is a holographic version of the original Masquerade Ultra Chrome polish!

Talk about "Woah!"

Masquerade (H) is one of the strongest color shifting polishes in the Ultra Chrome line and it is gorgeous!

At every turn, you’ll find Masquerade (H) shifting through an incredible array of super bright pink, violet, red, copper, and stunningly vibrant green.

I have to say it again, the color-shift in Masquerade (H) is so intense it’s practically confusing! Without a doubt a head turner and easily distracting. You may need to wear gloves while driving :)

Abundance

Abundance is an absolutely gorgeous fall themed Ultra Chrome that couldn't be more suited to the colors of the season!

Abundance effortlessly shifts through super vivid hues of red, orange, bronze. and gold.

Just take a look at a few swatches of Abundance and you'll quickly see exactly why we call it "Fall In A Bottle!"

Don't forget to be there Friday, 8/15!

I know it said there were 6 plates but only showed you 5. I wonder if they are keeping the 6th one a secret? I really like plate 5 though. I'm a sucker for patterns that cover up the entire nail. I can see plate 3 being fun to play with too. Any of them catch your eye?

Make-up by One Direction- The Up All Night kit

Today I'm breaking from my normal nail polish post to bring you a new makeup kit from One Direction. There is a nail polish in the kit so I'm not straying too much.
Makeup by One Direction is a range of makeup and cosmetic products celebrating youth, style, and the uninhibited lifestyle of a new generation. Celebrating life with bold shades, unique formulas and infused with limited edition collectible packaging, Makeup from One Direction is fun, bold, often irreverent, with a touch of cheeky mischievousness. Offered at prices that every girl and woman can afford.
The Up All Night Collection

“The Looks Collection” comprises three keepsake tins inspired by One Direction’s globe-conquering albums, “Up All Night, “Take Me Home” and the latest chart-topper, ‘Midnight Memories.” Each tin comes complete with everything you need to show off your personality. Are you a rock n’ roll girl, a fun party girl or the girl next door? We have just the right collection for you and illustrations to help show you just how to get your perfect look. All your beauty essentials are housed in a LIMITED EDITION collectible keepsake tin with removable sleeve, complete with ONE DIRECTION doodle stencils to decorate your keepsake tin and make it uniquely your own!

Illustrations inside of the tin

I decided to go with a simple but still pushing my comfort zone look. I'm not normally a blue eyeshadow type of girl and that lipstick was a bit bright for me personally.

See what I mean about the lipstick. Very bright and could be fun for the right occasion. And I have a feeling it is perfect for the One Direction fan demographic or someone with the confidence to pull it off.

The eyeshadow applied nicely and blended really well. I like that fact that I wasn't left with bright blue eyeshadow that I may have shamelessly rocked back in the '80s. Think Mimi from the Drew Carey Show.

There is a sophistication to this kit that takes it from '80s wow to appropriate to now. Even with lining the bottom of my eye with blue I still felt like it was a look I could wear out.

And this make-up has staying power right down to that bright pink lip. I applied this look when I first woke and it was still going strong at dinner time lips and all.

The nail polish that came in the kit is called Na Na Na and is a nice shimmery aqua that shifts to turquoise. The application was smooth but the polish is really sheer. I used 4 coats and you can still see some thinner patches.  I do love the color and will probably wear this again, but I'll be using undies for sure.

Showing the color shift
     DISTRIBUTION:
The line will be available worldwide starting in the U.S.

US RELEASE DATES:
Macy's - August 11th
Stage Stores – August 25th
Dillards – August 25th
Beauty Brands – August 25th
Lord and Taylor - August 25th

*International release dates TBD. We'll keep you posted!

Overall I think the quality of this kit is right up there with the big name brands. It's not colors that I would normally choose for myself, but I do like the way adding the blue under my eyes make their blue color really pop. I would have missed out on that if  I hadn't been given this opportunity. My only real complaint is that the product is hard to remove from the packaging. I think it took me 2 minutes to get the mascara out and I seriously thought I was going to break a nail.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!

KB Shimmer- When the Doves Sigh

Today I have for you swatches of KB Shimmer's When the Doves Sigh. Part of the Winter 2013  Collection, When the Doves Sigh is a grey crelly polish filled with fuchsia circles, square and hex glitters.  Turquoise, sapphire, and chrome hexes, micro glitters, and circles mixed with micro holographic sparkles.

Grey-Crelly-Mulit-Gliter-Nail-Polish

Show here with 2 coats plus top coat. The application was a surprise for me. The consistency was a little on the thin side, but not so thin that I had any issues. There was no pooling at my cuticles and I didn't have to fish around for glitters.

Grey-Crelly-Multi-glitter-nail-polish

When the Doves Sigh dries to a slightly textured, semi-gloss finish. I used Girl on the Run from Pure Ice to smooth everything out and give it a super shiny look.
You can still pick up a bottle of When the Doves Sigh from KB Shimmer for $8.75 a bottle if you'd like to add it to your collection. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!

Bonita Salon- Miss Piggy

Today I'm sharing a polish from Bonita Salon called Miss Piggy. By the name alone you probably already know that this is a pink polish. And what a pink it is! Not quite a hot pink, but closer to that than plain pink this color is a pink lover's dream. I love it, I really do!

Pink-Creme-Nail-Polish

Now for what I don't love. The formula. This applied like a streaky, splotchy mess. The polish was so thin it was like applying tinted water to my nails. Shown here is 3 troublesome coats plus top coat.  On the plus side, the brush was amazing and allowed me complete control. I was even able to avoid flooding my cuticles. Miss Piggy also dried really quickly to a semi-matte finish.

I'm so sad over the formula because it really is a great color. I just don't think it's worth all the work to get it applied. Maybe it will work well for water marbling since it's so thin? You'd think it would spread nicely in the water. I'll have to give that a try and get back to you.

Have you tried Bonita salon polishes before?  What was your experience? I'm not quite ready to give up on the brand completely, I've got a few more here to try out first. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!
