Sinful Colors - Song of Summer

As summer comes to an end and we send our children back to school I thought it only appropriate to write a post about a nail polish named Song of Summer.  Although  to be honest the songs of summer in Minnesota this year have either been raindrops or A/C's running on max. I can't complain too much though because the kids and I went on some fun trips and made a ton of memories. So in honor of the fun summer I had and ringing in the new school year, I present to you Sinful Colors Song of Summer.

Released in 2013 as part of the Country Charmer collection, Song of Summer is a pastel minty  green nail polish  in a creme finish. It actually reminded me of Mint ice cream which is pretty much the only thing that reminds me of summer with this polish. And mint ice cream just happens to be my absolute favorite so, having nails that color can't be all bad.

The application process was a bit tricky. I'm not sure if my polish was thin and runny because it's sat for 3 years or if that's what the formula was like. I did try to mix it up a bit before applying, but I still had runny polish. Not to the point that it was pooling at my cuticles, but if I was in the habit of applying thicker coats it could become an issue.

Even with the runny formula Song of Summer was very opaque on the first coat, only a small amount of VNL could be seen. Shown here is 2 coats plus top coat.

While Song of Summer is no longer available in stores, Sinful Colors does offer several colors that are very similar if you're wanting to pick up a bottle. Personally, this isn't a color that I would wear on its own again. But I might do a mint chip ice cream mani with it once the weather turns colder. Or I can see it working out well for a spring time floral manicure. And I have a sneaky feeling with its high opacity and runny consistency it would work out pretty well in a water marble. I might have to try that soon and see for sure.

Anyway, that's all I have for you today. I'd love to know what your favorite memory from this summer is in the comments. For my kids, it was camping with all my high school girlfriends and their families. We had more kids than adults that weekend and it rained almost all day one of the days, but we made the best of it and had a ton of laughs. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!
