Hobby Polish Bloggers Presents - Monochromatic Manicures

For the month of November the Hobby Polish Bloggers have joined up to bring you some monochromatic manicures. And the timing could be better. I had just finished this nail art look a few days before the theme was decided on. I figured it was fate and knew that I had to join in on the link up.

Now a monochromatic manicure had a certain appeal for me, the way 2 colors of the same shade can work together to create something beautiful, and subtle. Sadly my camera does not share the same love as I do and refused to capture what I saw on my nails.

To create this look I used Orly Beautiful Disaster as my base. As you can see it dries slightly darker than what you see in the bottle. I'll have a full review of this polish up in a few days.

For the stamping I used Shandy plate SH20 and Sinful Colors Southern Belle. A gorgeous raspberry colored creme polish that stamps like a dream.

The design was a bit more visible to the naked eye but the sparkle and shimmer of Beautiful Disaster threw my camera off and caused the design to disappear. Looking back at it now I probably should have tried a matte top coat. But I liked the glossy look too much in person. I guess that's a lesson I'll have to remember for next time.

How do you feel about monochromatic manicures? Do you like the subtle look they can have or do you prefer a more obvious look? Don't forget to check out the others looks created for this theme. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!
