The 12 Days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge Day 6: Any line from the "12 Days" Song

We are halfway through the Christmas Nail Art Challenge. I can't believe I've kept up so far. It's been kind of touch and go there for a few days with today being no exception. Today's theme is any line from the 12 Days of Christmas song.

I knew I could do a pretty decent job at the 5 golden rings but I wanted to challenge myself a bit more. I decided to try the 7 swans a swimming. Let's just say that my time ran out, I put this manicure together in about 7 minutes and I don't like it at all. Because of that, this is going to be a short post.

I started out with Frost Bite from Cuttin Edge as my base color. Then I went in with a white striper and painted my swan bodies. They actually looked semi-decent until I added the black to their heads. It all went downhill from there. The beaks are droopy and just yuck. I tried to save it with a little silver glitter to add some dimension or detail to the swan bodies but I don't think it really helped.

On the other 2 fingers, I have some very very subtle stamping with Mentality Touch and image plate BM06 from Bundle Monster. I'm sure if I could have taken a bit more time this would have turned out much better. As it is I'm calling for a mani re-do and calling it a night for now.

The only reason this is being shared is that I want to do every day in the challenge and I promised myself when I started this blog I would share my fails too.  But enough of this sad manicure attempt, let's take a look at what the other talented ladies came up with. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!

  2. I can't believe you don't like it, this is so pretty and I think you did a great job!! I know how that is, though, sometimes I do a mani that didn't turn out how it was in my head and I feel like it totally failed but then others like it, haha.

  4. I think you're being too hard on yourself. They are clearly identifiable as swans and I think they're precious!

  5. Awww, these swans are super cute. I love the silver glitter you added and I think you did a great job! Don't be so tough on yourself. I know we all do it, but it takes talent to do what we do, so rock it all day girl!!!

  6. You should be giving yourself a pat on the back for trying even if they didn't turn out how you expected! I think these lovely though and I'm really liking that base polish!

  9. It's definitely about trying. And I learn a little as I go and that helps for the next time.

  10. Isnt that how it always seems to go. Everyone likes my least favorite manicure, and then the ones that I think are really good don't get much attention. Thank you for your encouraging words!

  11. This is awesome freehanding, especially considering how much time you gave yourself to do it! Wow! :)

  12. Thank you. The more I look at it, the more it's growing on me. I am happy that it actually looks like swans at least.

  13. I think you have nothing to stress about this mani! I couldn't draw swans like these even in 20 hours!

  15. Hard to argue with that logic! And you're right we are our own worst critics.

  16. You did a fantastic job! I can't even pit on a single coat of polish on all ten nails in 7 minutes!

  17. Thanks. I just had higher hopes for this manicure and the lack of time really worked against me.

  20. Thank you. I do need to remember that trying is half the battle and not every manicure will be a master piece.

  22. Well if this is 7 minute work, I don't want to see what you can do with more time - I can't even properly put on basecoat in 7 minutes :P.

  23. Well I think you did a very good job! But we are our own worst critics of course. So just read all the comments, it's all of us against you, so we win and therefore this nail art is awesome :D
