Aliquid Lacquer- Angel in Hell Collection inspired by the Phanton of the Opera (Press Release)

Step into the darkness...

Halloween is just around the corner, so Trudy and I took the opportunity to celebrate a beloved musical and book, The Phantom of the Opera!
Unless you live in a cave, you're probably at least a little familiar with the tragic story of the deformed genius who falls in love with a beautiful singer. The Phantom story is all about contrasts: beauty and ugliness, light and dark, good and evil. So we created a collection that's at once frightening and delicate, and above all stunning! Best of all, these polishes are all on sale through October 1!
Get 20% off all full-size polishes and 10% off all minis in the Angel in Hell collection right now!
Corpse de Ballet: Pale pink with green shimmer and black/purple flecks.
Forever and a Day: Dark teal-grey with green, purple and iridescent flecks and red-brown shimmer.
Red Death: Blackened rust jelly with red, silver green and yellow hexes and dark red shimmer.
Maze of Mirrors: Full-coverage glitter with silver holo, black and iridescent glitters, silver flakes, and silver-blue shimmer.
The Skeleton's Ring: Cream with green shimmer and gold flecks.
Unending Night: Dark purple-blue linear holographic with red and copper sparks.
Plus, we have some more awesome stuff in the shop!
  • New pumpkin cheesecake scented lip balm! It's sweet, spicy, and totally nostalgic!
  • Nail polish magnets! You already decorate your nails with ALIQUID Lacquer...now you can decorate your fridge too!
  • Grab bag polish! We've put some of our best prototype and unreleased polishes up for sale for only $5! Find them in the Clearance section!
We're also happy to announce that the lovely Jessica of Be Happy and Buy Polish has created an ALIQUID Lacquer fan group on Facebook where you can share your manis and hauls!

Ellagee-Sangria With the Girls (LE)

Today I'm sharing with you a limited edition nail polish from Ellagee called Sangria With the Girls. In fact, this polish is so limited edition that only 5 bottles were available for purchase. Why would I do this to you? Show you a nail polish that can't be purchased? Well for one this polish is so absolutely beautiful that it has to be shared with the world. And for another, I can't contain my excitement over it. And just to warn you, this post will be picture heavy.
Burgundy holographic nail polish
Photo was taken in lightbox

Sangria With the Girls is a burgundy polish with holographic glitters. Originally made as a gift for a blogger meet up, Laura decided to sell the remaining bottles and I knew I had to get one as soon as I saw the pictures.

Berry colored holographic nail polish

Laura knew what she was doing when she named this one! Just look at that deep rich color. It's like the perfect berry wine shade and the holo is the bubbles floating up to the surface. Anyone else want a glass of wine now? Ok maybe it's a little early for that, but it is Friday so go ahead and treat yourself tonight.

The application was smooth with the first coat going on slightly sheer. But Sangria builds up nicely, reaching full opacity after 2. Show here is 2 coats plus top coat.

I decided that even though this polish is beautiful on its own that I really need to start using some of the nail art supplies that I've collected over the last few months. So I tried my hand at making a design with some rhinestones as an accent nail.

Photo was taken with a cell phone in incandescent lighting
Even looking at these pictures now makes me smile.  I just love this polish, I've worn it 3 times now. That's a record for me and a single bottle of polish. It's even on my toes! I never match my nail to my toes.  And now for some photo spam because I couldn't write this post and not share these next two photos, get ready to drool ladies and gents....

So I hope you can understand why I had to share this gorgeous polish with you today even though it's not available.  One might become available on a blog sale, or there may be a dupe out there. If there is someone needs to let me know because I will probably cry when this polish is gone. And at the rate I've been using it, that might not be too long from now.

What do you think of Sangria? Will anyone be cracking open a bottle a little later on? Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!

Black Dahlia Lacquer - A new indie polish line unveils 3 collections (Press Release)

Black Dahlia Lacquer a new to the scene indie company is releasing 3 new collections and I've got all the details right here for you.
BLACK DAHLIA LACQUER LAUNCHES NEW INDIE POLISH LINE, UNVEILS THREE COLLECTIONS
Black Dahlia Lacquer, a newly formed independent nail polish company, will formally launch online at noon Central Standard Time on October 3, 2014. The company will open for pre-sales on September 30, 2014, at both www.blackdahlialacquer.com and a secondary shop at https://www.etsy.com/shop/BlackDahliaLacquer.

“Black Dahlia Lacquer showcases our love of polish through bright colors and textures,” said Black Dahlia Lacquer owner Deanna Morey. “We’ve worked hard to develop nail lacquers that will appeal to all women – from those that prefer more conservative neutrals to full-coverage gold glitter and bright blue holographic polish for more adventurous clients. We are confident that our customers will love our polish as much as we loved creating them.”

Black Dahlia Lacquer will unveil three polish collections including The Essentials, a 6-piece neutrals collection; Hanging on to Summer, a collection of six fun, brightly colored summer lacquers, and Fall 2014, a 12-polish collection of richer fall colors. Polishes to be released include cremes, shimmers, and full-coverage glitter polishes as well as textured and holographic nail lacquers. All polish is mixed by hand and has undergone rigorous testing prior to release.

The company is owned by Morey, a former writer, and her daughter Aubrey Sheffield, a college student currently studying nursing.

“Our collections celebrate rich colors and textures, particularly our fall collection,” Sheffield said. “Our three collections offer something for everyone.”

Both the Hanging on to Summer and Fall 2014 collections were inspired by a variety of flowers, foliage and blooming plants.

Most polishes including cremes, shimmers, and glitter polishes will cost $6 for the petite 8 ml size and $9.50 for the 14 ml full size. Holo or duo chrome polishes will cost $6.75 for Petites and $10.75 for full size. Both sizes include flat brushes and stainless steel mixing balls.

China Glaze - Pelican Gray

Happy Hump Day Everyone! Today I have for you an older polish from China Glaze called Pelican Gray.  Originally released in the Spring 2011 Anchors Away Collection, Pelican Gray is a medium grey polish with silver micro shimmer.
Grey nail polish with silver micro shimmer

I wasn't too sure I would like a polish the same color as concrete on my nails, but I wanted a nice neutral grey in my collection. After all, you never know when you might need one! I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered I really liked wearing this! The shimmer saves it from being completely boring, even though it's very subtle, yet it still can be an everyday polish or a "pallet cleanser".

Grey nail polishwith shimmer

I'm sad to say that application was a bit of a mess with this one. It's a bit on the runny side and I had some issues with pooling at the cuticles. The first coat was pretty sheer, but it builds up nicely.  Shown here is 2 coats without top coat. I probably could have used a 3rd coat but I was using this as a base for a glitter polish and wasn't too worried about VNL.

Boardwalk from Leesha's Lacquer over Pelican Gray

I do like that this dries to a nice, smooth, glossy finish.  And I would wear this again, application issues and all. Although I do have my fingers crossed that if I mix up my bottle a little better next time I won't have as many. What do you think of Pelican Gray? Did anyone else have the same issues with the application? Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!

Pretty & Polished - Carrigan

I hope everyone had a good weekend. I spent mine resting and catching up on a little housework. It was a much-needed rest and I'm almost back to feeling 100%. Today I'd like to share with you Carrigan from Pretty & Polished.

Carrigan is a pale peach polish with a hint of  a pink undertone that dries to a glossy finish. I love peach polishes and this one is no exception.

Peach creme finish nail polish

The application was an adventure for me. I tend to apply my polish in a thicker coat than most. Applying it this way caused streaking but the polish did level itself out. I learned that if I applied thinner coats I had no issues what so ever. Blame the streaks on user error. I only mentioned it because I'm sure I'm not the only person to apply thicker than average coats of polish.

Creme nail polish in a peach color

Look at that glossy finish! This is 2 coats without top coat. Unfortunately, at the time I'm writing this Carrigan is no longer available in the store, but you might be able to find one in a blog sale. I will be keeping my bottle because I really like this color and it makes a great base for nail art.

What so you think of this color? I'd also love to hear what your must have polishes are from Pretty & Polished. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Polishing!
